Lever guns are cool.

But that Mossberg(?) is hideous.

If you're looking for a "tacticool" lever gun, I'd point you to the Henry model X. Shown below in 30-30.

If I were buying a lever action it'd be a Marlin or Henry. A Mossberg lever action is like buying a fish sandwich at a burger joint.
i wasnt aware of the other two offerings. thanks for sharing. i dont really want or need the tacticool junk. just want a good all around rifle that i dont mind getting beat up or seeing some weather. the mossberg is very ugly. ive always felt mossberg made a good pump shotgun but never cared for anything else. i used one of the old 590a1s an awful lot . i think marlin and henry are owned by the same company these days, they may be 75 % the same. * correction just learned the marlin is now part of sturm ruger.

With the ammo shortage I can't tell you the last time I've seen 410 on the shelves. When I did see it it was crazy expensive. 12 Gauge is in good supply here, 20 ga you can find. The only reason I look is my daughter thought about a 410 hand gun but why bother if you can't get ammo.
some of the folks that are more "govt weary" will say thats exatcly what the anti gunners plan is. (but why bother if you can't get ammo.) cant take the power tools quick enough so they just make it harder to get the batteries.

Damn, you're right.

I hadn't looked at .410 recently. Just checked my favorite online ammo supplier and nothing.
at my local sports store the entire ammo aisle has less than what 3 guys would take for a dove hunt weekend. only the most popular rounds available at higher prices and very limited supply and selection.

I gave up on ammo shopping in person long ago. I'll scan periodically, but generally buy online.

It doesn't help that I'm particular about my ammo. Once I find a round that meets my needs, and that my guns run well on, that's usually all I'll buy.

Ruger has begun to make Marlin rifles, at least one of which is a lever action. My son works at Ruger and is on the "Marlin" line. There's a rifle pictured on the most recent Guns & Ammo mag. The 1895 I think is the model. My son made the barrel for the rifle pictured on the cover.
That's my Dad bragging story for the day ?

For sure.

I feel the same way about Mossberg. Great pump actions.

The stock and rail would be all I need to be tacticool.

And yes, Ruger bought Marlin and is now shipping new 1895 Governments.

Disagree about the pumps, but love the levers.

nice! one of the things all handguns should come with from the factory in my opinion. like a seat belt for cars.
I agree! I looked at the Glock 43 with the sights and it was markedly much more expensive. I snagged the sights for $44 from Amazon and installed them myself. I'm going to miss having access to the right tools for the job!

The anti second amendment crowd has decided it's too hard to change the 2nd amendment so they're trying to make guns too expensive to own. Tax on sales, tax an fees on transfers, big insurance liability coverage required for gun ownership, taxing every gun and round of ammo every year. Make it too expensive for the avg citizen to own a firearm but they'll enjoy their private security guards that are armed. NY has also gone after banks and insurance companies that do business with firearm manufacturers with threats of regulations an audits.

correct you are! sadly that tactic goes way back too. that was the point of the sbr tax stamps and other unjust garbage. nullification. and well all see how well it works, i mean the places with unjust firearms laws have almost no crime esp. involving guns....

that is awesome! tell your son thank you. in the past ive owned a p90, p95, single six, mini14 and a much older single shot 270. every one of them functioned perfectly out of the box and had zero issues. i dont care what anyone says or what brand they get all misty for, ruger makes a good product and is a 2nd amendment friendly gun company. now that marlin is ruger is expect the quality to be back up to snuff or even better. for a while they were part of one of those brand grab groups like rac or freedom group and they were not what they used to be. id be happy to have anything ruger makes. years back when i was between jobs things got real tight and i had to sell my rugers. ive been pissed about that ever since. the friend that bought them still tells me how he enjoys them now and then. :headbang:
