Never stopping to put gas in an ICE is not possible. Quick stops at a charger are possible. Depending on your family, you might need to stop at a charger about as frequently and as long as potty breaks. This is such a silly argument. The real question is WTF do we need pages of people complaining about EVs every F'ing time someone mentions they bought one?
I wasn't complaining, but you seem to have taken it that way.

Retired, work is a four letter word.
If you don't need a truck and you don't have concerns about range, then I can understand why an EV right now could be a good choice. The only issue is that they are not as fuel-efficient as they once were since California's energy cost has skyrocketed. Still much better than the price of gas now though
Not sure about SoCal Edison but up here it's still 09.2 a KWH, but with my solar it's basically free (and yes it has paid for itself over the last 10 years)

in my area tesla is pretty common. every parking lot has a few and several places have the charge stations. Im not anti tesla or hybrid etc. I just do not see EV as a cure for the problem. Just another band aid. I know if my truck only got 14 mpg i may looking for band aids too lol. my tuned mustang gt with v8 power near 500 horses would avg 19. I drove it only for fun so cruising around, driving hard fast and stupid. 14 is just not acceptable these days unless its a classic ride or something.

I agree they are way cool. Which is the only reason I might own one someday. Heck, I just bought a Milwaukee push mower that kicks ass. So convenient.
Not to get off topic, but I have the same mower. Would never go back to gas.

This year I completed my transition to all electric yard tools with an electric mower.

I got all the others last year (chain saw, trimmer, blower, etc.) but my old mower was still running and starting fine.

I found a good deal on a mower that fit into my electric ecosystem (mix of Ryobi and Dewalt) and grabbed it anyway, just in case.

And agreed, wouldn't go back to a gas yard tool.

Edit: Let me add a caveat. When my trimmer wouldn't start I decided to get the Ryobi 18V combo that was on sale. The blower was OK but the trimmer wasn't up to snuff. Returned it and got the 40V brushless set and that was the ticket. real gas equivalent power. My Yard tools are all 40V Ryobi, my power tools are all Dewalt.

But back on topic...

14mpg? I get more than that (16-17mpg) on my 2005 F250 super-duty 6.0 turbo diesel and that's just doing short trips of < 5 miles. My 2022 Ranger (FX4) after only 400mi is getting 22+mpg and I live in the Sierra foothills (e.g. *lots* of hills).

Look at it this way. The government is pushing so hard for EV that they will have to pay you to keep driving an ICE because there isn’t enough electricity for everyone to use! Small engine generators will be bricks of gold someday! ?

Should you be at a stoplight with an R1T beside your Ranger - you will be in short order following "EV stuff" as the R1T will completely and totally smoke your Ranger, let me repeat that - totally smoke your Ranger irrespective of your mods. R1T does 0 to 60 at 3.0 secs. And while doing so it's non polluting.
i mean i could care less if it smokes me... ev vehicles do not interest me in the least they are super boring to me... and stating its not polluting is very dumb... they do pollute just in a different manner..

i stated i have no clue what it even is because i dont follow ev stuff

edit: i see the r1t is the name for the rivian truck tbh i never cared enough to look up its name lol

I mean, not much different than if you blow a motor or your turbo eats a bolt....

I only say that because a few guys here at the plant have teslas, ~5 years old, and they cost ~15 bucks a month to charge... One guy commutes >1 1/2 one way every day... When he drove ice it was 1/2 tank a day....

Are they going to replace every vehicle, did cars replace all horses and wagons in the first couple decades?
thats a pretty poor comparison there.... if an engine goes boom it still has metals that can be melted down or used as someone's random lawn ornament lmao ive seen someone have a 350 as a mailbox lol.
a battery is a bit different as we already know from laptops and other stuff hell with rc car battery's when they go bad which they do they have to be disposed of properly and in safe manner because of the chemicals and now there is large basically rc cars on the street with a battery that will fail in the future....

not saying electric wont become the norm but as many have stated its not going to change a thing... atm lots of places still use coal to provide power and most of the instructor in the us cant support everyone going ev its going to be a good while before that happens and even then we might still be using fossil fuels to give power and do other heavy equipment stuff so in the end it wouldnt change to much until we fix the issue at hand.......

You are correct, but the discussion was expense of repairs.... Not how much I can sell my blown motor for to recoup costs...

But I wanted to use your motor as a foot stool.

Why are you so selfish?

Because the founding fathers lacked the foresight to constitutionally guarantee the right to operate an ICE vehicle as in life, liberty and the right to drive combustion engine vehicles in perpetuity. Some unbelievably even doubted that Al Gore invented the internet.

Yeah, not sure on the circuit size. We're upping our home's ancient 60-amp panel to 200 and they'll install a 60-amp circuit in the garage for a future level-2 charger (or whatever the faster charger is).

I'm already adding a couple of 240 volt 30-amp circuits for welding and plasma cutting so it made sense to add another panel for home resale value.
Adding a generator hook up too?
