What did I do with my ranger?
Well, drove to my ford dealer and
Had the trans. Flushed , new fluid,
Old filter was still good, cleaned it,
New gasket at 57.500 for $ 359.00.
Still shifts like a dream! Engine oil &
Filter, $70.00 bucks.
Next up: coolant flush, brake fluid flush ,
Differential fluid change, front & rear ,
Transfer case oil change.
Love this truck!!

I did everything at 20k EXCEPT the transmission, I aint touching it and actually hope for it's demise...
This thread still makes me want some spicy Chinese though , General Tso Main, which dosent exist but definitely should, imho...

140,000 Km service time, oil, oil filter, air filter, diesel fuel filter. A mix of Ford OEM and after market filters. The Ryco oil filter was actually a better fit on the plastic cartridge spigot than the Ford filter I used last oil change. The 3.2 i5 diesels have a design peculiarity where you must complete the oil and filter change in 10 minutes. Else the vane type variable pressure oil pump Ford use in these engines can unprime itself and not re-prime on startup after the change. That of course is a very bad thing.

Note I use 10W40 proper turbo diesel engine oil in mine as I find it runs much smoother, quieter, and cleaner, than the Ford recommended 5W30 car engine oil where it always sounded rattly from the lifters, and timing chain. 5W30 would probably be fine in colder climates.
