So my ranger currently has the basic gauge cluster. With the small pixelated screen, the only problem is that when the weather gets either too hot or too cold, the screen glitches and doesn't work right. The pixels die and appear black or the screen displays the wrong info. I was wondering if I could just take a gauge cluster from a higher trim level ranger and swap it in. To try and kill two birds with one stone so to say. Fix a problem and upgrade at the same time.

I think a few members have done this upgrade, sorry I can't remember who though.

Are you referring to the infotainment screen (above the radio and heater controls) ……

or the small screen on the instrument cluster?

It's been done before. Some even have replaced their Lariat guages with the XLT guages. Will need to find one with close to the same mileage or less. You will need to use Forscan to make sure the ICP asbuilt file from your old cluster is loaded into the new one and you can correct the mileage UP to match your existing mileage. Can’t adjust it down.

With you having FOB issues, deal with that first, then address this specific issue of the gauge display (Temp Related) issue, as this may just be a dirty connection (power or ground) but the FOB issue may fix this issue as they interrelate with each other.
