Front seat removal, anyone tried?

Anyone have any tips or info on how to remove the front seats without having any problems? I don't want a code to appear or my airbags to deploy . I want to install some aftermarket seat heaters.

(I want to avoid a CEL if possible because I remember on my Volkswagen, doing this caused a code to appear even when the battery was unplugged.)

I had my front passenger seat out and got error messages every start. I didn't try to change it, because it was only short term and a tap on OK cleared the message.

You shouldnt have any issues. If anything use Forscan to clear any DTC's set while the seat is removed. Also while thinking about it why are you removing one of the front seats? Accessory install?

I figured it's easier to spend $50-70 on a harness and heating elements and to route the wires myself than to have a dealer charge me upwards of $1000 to do the same thing.

Maybe a dumb question but is there a tool needed to unplug the wiring harness for the front seats? I pulled the red tab, but it seems to still be locked in place somehow.

It was months ago, I honestly do not recall exactly. I had a small flat head and various body trim tools, but no special tools per se.

The red tab is simply a lock for the release button. After you pull tue red tab there is a release type button on the actual connector.
