Good morning all,

Someone blew a stop sign caused an accident last week involving my 2019 Ranger. The damage estimate is up to $10,000 and it needs to go on a frame puller.

I've never had a truck or car with frame damage, does anyone know how likely it is I will have future issues after the frame needs to be repaired?

Cannot wait to have my truck back and hope it looks acceptable after I pick it up when it's fixed.

Is 10k the intial estimate? Because if so, that means it's possible there is more damage. A reputable shop will request authorization for time to tear it down a bit to see what's under there.
Initially it was 5k and change, they just updated the estimate with an additional $4,500 with the frame damage.

It's being repaired at the dealership I purchased it from, they have a collision shop luckily.

Taking a corner hit like that, it's likely the frame damage is limited to the front driver side rail. That should be an easy and effective fix on a frame machine. If the shop is a quality shop, you should never be able to tell or feel that it was hit.

My older brother was a very talented body man. He salvaged a 1980 Toyota SR-5 pickup for me that had been run into a bridge abutment. He pulled the frame back to true with a Port-a-Power and the truck always drove fine and had no alignment issues. The pictures below are the after photos.

That's a beautiful truck!

I think you are correct, I found this picture as part of my claim documents and I hope the only affected area is by the crash bar.

I know its a different kind of vehicle, but i had an accident smashing all my front end on a 2003 chrysler caravaor whatever chrysler van is. And they fixed frame damage in 2008 and it drove and handled just fine afterwards. No worn tires engine and tranny in straight headlights everything good. All bolts lined up afterwards. And it was on a frame machine. Good shop i take it.

Take 30 mins to call all around various auto shops (emphasis on other shops in the collision chain that don't do body work, like painters,) - especially any high-end shops - and see who is the trusted body shop in your local area. As others have already stated, with the right people doing the work you'll have no problems.

Thank you, it's at the collision shop at my Ford dealer who I trust.

I went head on with a boulder a few months ago and had frame damage as well. It’s fixed, drives like normal, and can’t tell it ever happened. You’ll be fine.

I agree with the other members, with a good quality shop you'll be back in business. Take care!
