Fox 2.0 Dealer Install Problem

Hi All,

Though this is my first post, I’ve been keeping up with the board for years now and have found it to be an amazing resource. Thanks to all of you for all the information you’ve provided to get me going with my 2019 Ranger!

The reason I’m finally posting myself is that I now have a problem with my otherwise fantastic truck. I recently purchased the Ford Performance Fox 2.0 coilover kit and asked a local dealer to do the install to avoid any complications or warranty issues. Turns out, there were issues.

After a couple days of back and forth, while they did install the kit and it does seem mechanically sound (if not quite a bit higher than I expected), a partial list of problems with the truck is:

• terrain mgmt out
• 4x4 out
• cruise out
• abs out
• parking assist out

According to the dealer, the issue is a damaged magnetic strip inside the hub. Of course, they haven’t acknowledged being the source of the damage themselves (I absolutely didn’t bring it in broken) and they say the part is on national backorder with no way to know when it will arrive. I’m traveling for the holidays and they aren’t local to me most of the time. They’ve offered to work with another dealer to correct the issue.

I have about a week left in town before I have to head back to Alabama (I’m currently in LA) and would really like my truck to be back to 100% prior to driving back. The only part number I have is to the hub assembly itself (KB3Z-1104-B) and not the specific strip they mention, which is what it sounds like they want to replace.

Any thoughts from the community on this? My inclination is to tell them to replace the whole assembly since they are the ones that caused the damage anyway but they may fight me on that. Also, any thoughts on their story about the magnetic strip being the problem? They shouldn’t have been messing around with the hub itself as far as I can fathom.

So this happened during the installation wich means they get to fix it for FREE. They may not want to wich is why they are giving you the run around. What I suggest you do is contact Ford customer care. Inform them what they did and they will get involved and fix the issue.

Yeah, thanks Frenchy! I'm about to push on to my folks' house and the dealer seemed really happy to let me leave with a promise to help with whatever other dealer I eventually get to. I've decided instead to leave the truck here with my in-laws so the dealer that made the mess can be the one to fix it. Their grasp of the problems seems less than firm and they've told me a couple questionable, if not flat out false, things so far. At any rate, they'll get another week to fix the problems. If they can't figure it out they'll have a spectacularly bad internet review to look forward to, among other things such as you suggest.

Sounds like a good idea to leave the truck where the "offending" dealer can have the opportunity to make right on it. It gives them less room to try to give you the run-around if you remove the truck from the area and try to get them to get a different dealership to fix it on their dime.
