I despise Direct TV and will go without before paying them another dime. Terrible business practices. Constantly over charging. Just waiting for the day they go bankrupt.
IMO not enough people want to bother with filing a complaint with gov agencies - like the FCC, FTC and so on. I used these agencies multiple times over the yrs to file complaints - it can be done online and in every case I've been successful because my complaints were legit, the agency will review the complaint and if valid send it to the company and they have 30 days to respond. Most recent was a complaint against Frontier Airlines I made on behalf of my daughter - her xmas eve flight was cancelled after spending 7 hrs at the airport - repeated delays, no reschedule. So Frontier offer $300 of vouchers - then they only sent her $200, and wouldn't respond to attempts to get the other $100, so I filed a complaint and they finally sent the $100, but they figured most people roll over dead. The concept of quality customer service is lost on many of these companies because they know many people don't bother to complain and use gov agencies.

When I had kids in school an had to have a printer on hand I always priced the replacement ink for the printer an bought the one with the cheapest refills.
Has anyone tried what the Shaq man pitches - Epson Supertank printers. When I was working stiff yrs back I'd always buy cartridge refill kits and dork around with them, some with good results but I avoided the overpriced cartridges whenever possible. And still have a brother laser B&W printer.

you can download google maps to use them offline.

it is buried feature but has been there for years.
I de-googled years ago although I still use waze sometimes. It's maddening how terrible the other navigation apps are. Like OSMand adds 2 hours to what is a 12 hour drive on waze.

Subscription base business model is the new normal. For example. The small 5 employee company I work for bought Quick Books 4 years ago for about $450. Now Quick Books is going to subscription only at $800 per year.

Lifetime of the supported device. Garmin determines the devices supported life. JFWIW.
Pick your poison.
Phone app, Tom Tom, Chinese no name crap.
No subscription.
I just broke my first rule. Don't respond to trolls.

Ford offers different packages when you order the vehicle . Are we moaning because we did not choose the package which includes "Built-in services" ?

Learned more today about Sync4 than at any other time. My Lariat has the Sync3 - B&O system that is part of the $1,795 'Equipment Group 501A'. Includes: 1. Technology Package, 2. Remote Start,
3. Tons of other stuff.

Basically, my Lariat has every option available in 2019 except for the FX4 package. Then, I spent at least $3,000 on dealer installed accessories, including the Ford Performance Ecoboost Tune. Just spent nearly $1,000 on quality shocks. Was happy before, but now, I'm 'seriously happy'! :)

Ouch, I'm so hurt. Not seeing trolism in my post but please ignore or block me if I fit your definition. BTW I've got 4, no wait, 5 Garmin devices counting my fishing boat. All still supported. I've tossed 2 in the past that had lifetime support. They lived Garmin definition of lifetime.
How the pay at Garmin by the way?

Yep, it took me a while to understand that when I first saw in on my Bronco order. Ford now has "Connected navigation", and "connected built in navigation". The first is like Google maps, and updates free. But, you gotta ante up ever so often to keep it going. The second is like the regular nav systems in a way. You get the connected part where you pay for the service if you want like the first part. If you don't you still have navigation, but you can't update it like in the past. Bean counters have a way to make us pay for things we never imagined. :)

Office 360 for Mac has been subscription for a few years. They went to that when going to 32 bit processing and you could no longer update the old app.

Microsoft 360 subscription has been priceless at $75 per year for my granddaughter in High School. Apps are automatically updated and 1TB of cloud storage is provided.

Having Sync 3 have not had any issues other than updating.. NEW 2021 Bronco after 3 months - *If you don't pay up your GPS stops working entirely! We just found out!
Yes have have Apple car play to run to the screen but LOTS of no cell coverage can and will interupt that use.. Makes us mad!!
Download “HERE Maps” used to be Nokia maps. In the settings you can download state by state maps. I have sworn by it for 10 years now. Great for trips to Vegas and such when T-Mobile has crappy coverage.

Not really anything new if anyone remembers the original version of Sync. It had turn by turn free for 3 yrs and then you had to subscribe. Had that in my 2010 Fusion and used it on trips. I didn't subscribe after it expired since by then I had a GPS unit.

I would bet that the number of people who ordered updates for the built-in navigation basically evaporated after phone based GPS became the norm.

Car based navigation is becoming equivalent to a CD changer.

Speaking of CDs, I just ran across some old CDs that have pictures on them and realized I have nothing to put the CD into. Between CDs, computers and clouds, we'll have generations of history lost in the future. Time to start drawing on cave walls again.
