FFS Ford still isn't building Rangers in big numbers as it is. Drive past the Chevy and GMC lots and they seem to have a rather large inventory. WTF

If it were me in your position I'd carry a gas can in my truck. When I see them on the side of the road I'd pull over and offer to refuel them pretending not to realize it's an EV. Even as they insist the gas won't help and get more and more agitated I'd keep bothering them, pretending to not understand what an EV is and keep offering the gas. Finally I'd shrug and say OK, poor the gas in my own truck and drive off, possibly doing a burnout as I leave. Just an idea.

Anyone remember when ford said that people will get the Lightning for a starting price of 40k? Or the hybrid Maverick for 20K? They then claimed to not have known how popular either would be and jacked up the prices so that the prices were unreasonable for the target audiences?

I bet Pepperidge Farms remembers.
Pepperidge Farms also remember when Elon said that he would have an EV sedan for less than $30K.

Nope, I'm surrounded by pretentious EV drivers, can't stand em or their silly vehicles

Then they're stuck on the side of the road with dead batteries calling AAA like it's going to show up with a gas can full of D Cells ?
Sounds like your issue is with the dumb drivers more than the vehicles. But dumb drivers are in all vehicles, it's just easier to notice how dumb they are when they mess up with a car so simple to operate as an EV and because they will sit there longer waiting on that road side gen getting them powered up enough to go again, while gas is a fill and go in a few minutes.

Yeap, when Ford make that announcement that is when my dad started looking into them. But in the end decided on the Tesla Y as the prices of the F-150 kept going up.

Had no idea he said that but from judging from the docs at work complaining about the overall quality of their teslas, I'm not sure I'd touch one that cheap...

Well if he likes it. I probably would have opted for the lightning still myself over Tesla if I were in the ev market although I have seen way more cybertrucks than lightnings unfortunately. Just can't get over how ugly the cybertruck is, it actually makes the current Chevy 2500/3500 look beautiful in comparison

Tesla’s next-generation vehicle: all the news about Elon Musk’s next big EV bet - The Verge

"For years, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been promising an affordable electric vehicle, likely priced at $25,000, as a way to broaden the appeal of plug-in vehicles.

He first mentioned it in a 2018 interview with YouTuber Marques Brownlee, saying “a $25,000 car, that’s something we can do.” Then in 2020, at the company’s first Battery Day event, he speculated that Tesla could eventually produce upward of 20 million of these vehicles in a year — or roughly twice the current production of Toyota, GM, or Volkswagen."

$25k was doable, I'll give him that, but 20 million cars per year?!

If you fire up the way back machine lots of us thought the small electric truck was a much better starting place than the giant lightning with unrealistic promises, and Ford said ? "ehhh , we know better than you what works, we are Ford damn it !" , and now , how many billions and x number of unsold lighting later ? and we're gonna get what we should have already had ...maybe...

Unless Ford installed Samsung's new solid state battery...600-1000 miles range...charges in 5 minutes...20 year life span...game changer!

I'm just shocked that all of Samsung didn't go up in mysterious spontaneous flames like all previous break through inventions...
