I might have been 5yrs. old , but can remember 19 cents....Atlantic Richfeid station in Chula Vista, Ca...
YES , CALIFORNIA...
Yeah, gas was 19-19 cents a gallon, regular, it was pumped for you, and they checked under hood and tire pressure, cleaned windshield, and if it was a Texaco, you walked in and got a free map of whatever state you were in.....
New tires were under 20 bucks, re-treads were half that, Coke was 10 cents in the machine, cig's were 15 cents a pack, and life was good !!!

Well be thankful that your fishin license is free, here in CO it used to be when you turned 65 it was a $1 , I got just 1 year for $1 then our benevolent leaders changed that and it's >$10 , then of course when you put in for a big game hunting license draw you are now required to buy a small game license, continual nickel and diming and I'm not thrilled with how the DOW runs it's stocking programs these days, too many alpine lakes that used to be good trout impoundments are no longer so.

I'll admit I was surprised to see that the Ranger was ranked the second most dangerous pickup. I know we only represent a small percentage of owners out there but based on those who've been involved in some pretty bad ones here I thought it would rank a lot higher.

? They must of based their rankings from those blue ones? :lipssealed:?

I prefer to go by this rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. I'm not worried about their marginal on the headlights as I switched to LED's which are much better.

oh yeah and worthy of mention - those late 60s and 70s were a time of free thinking, open expressionism and it was pretty easy to score. I heard that Meatloaf (RIP) tune the other day - he's rounding 3rd, headed for home - stop right now !

Funny enough we got rear ended in the f150 loaner we are in. Thankfully my WDH was on it because the truck took ZERO damage and their little SUV had both air bags go off, their front end looked pretty bad but maybe not totalled. Even the 10k WDH looked unharmed. The receiver pin was bent though but could still come out.

My hitch height is about 2" higher so I was curious what my Ranger would have gone though. Thankfully I didn't have it that day to really know.

lol I think most of us did along with the 6x9 speakers on the rear deck.
Oh, don't forget the Crager SS chrome wheels. :giggle:

I did have those Crager SS wheels on my 57 Chevy Belair 2 door Coup... And I had a Quadraphonic 8 Track Player to go with my Wonder Bar Tube AM radio! I did have a problem finding quad 8 Track tapes even way back then.

I loved that Chevy. Easy to work on and fun to drive. A great teenager automobile. 4 speed Muncie M-22 rock crusher paired with a 327ci v8 with "camel back" 202 fuelie heads.

Happy times

But cell phones weren't available back then to distract you while driving. That's why I survived with no power steering or brakes. Many of today's fatal accidents are caused by distracted driving.
Im not that old lol. I had a nextel when I was 16. Granted it was nothing to distract yourself with. The CB and radio were tho.
