In the past, non-Ford extended warranties had the highest consumer complaints on record. Pay up front and when work was needed claim was denied.

Has anyone had experience with after market warranties WRT payouts? Good or bad.
My local dealer has a sign posted advising that non-Ford ESP’s will be charged a fee of $100. to process the claim. That would be on top of what ever deductible you may have on it as well.

Interesting. I put my year, mileage, and answered the questions and it put me at much higher rates.

Not sure if that’s due to the 17k miles per year, age, or a combination of the above.

Putting in a 2023 with 6k miles gets me MUCH lower rates.

The sooner you buy it when you purchase your Ranger, the less expensive the plans are.....waiting till OE warranty is about to expire will cost you much more.
I bought mine within a month of purchasing my Ranger in 2021. 8 year, 100,000 mile, $100 deductible ran me $1195.00 via Flood Ford.
Can't imagine what it would cost now that's it's going on 3 years old.
Did that 8 year/100k run concurrent with the factory warranty or, was it an extra 8 years/100k?

Any warranty period starts at the time the vehicle was considered sold when new, since mine was an ordered truck that started on the day it hit the waiting for shipment lot. So, mine actually started about 10 days before I actually took delivery and drove it off the lot.
I believe if you buy off the dealer lot when new, it starts the day you drive off the lot.

So, these are not a (+) warranty over the 3yr 36 or 5yr 60, they are an extension to the factory warranty. 10 yr warranty = Start date of when is was considered first sold.

Yours is so high because you are picking the longest term plus highest mileage coverage. For 10 years and 175K miles, the likelihood of needing major repairs is much higher than say 8years/100K.

Agree with the warranty start date as the time it was considered first sold, but I have never heard of it starting before actual delivery to the customer. I ordered my 2020, build date of 8/12/2020, picked up 9/5/2020, and the in-service/warranty start date was the same - 9/5/2020.

I drive 17k miles a year, so would get to the 175k at 10 years (which is only 7 years extension past the B2B and 5 years of additional power train after the 5/60k).

My 2.3L burns oil, has had some timing chain noises on start up, and recently have had the 10R80 transmission issues (getting resolved now).

I’m leaning toward getting the maximum plan, looks like Flood is about $300 higher than Granger and Ziegler is the highest out of all (but has a $250 coupon, which brings the rate back to reality).

Interesting that mods aren’t covered, I’m a completely stock truck, but even something like a powered sub or bed lights may void that portion of the warranty.

Install bed lights, factory upfitter switch powering them comes loose, can they claim the bed lights (which would be a fraction of the 10A rating of the relay), voided that warranty?

Not that I’m worried about that specific example, but how far will they go to use the “corrosion” or “excessive wear” clauses if something fails, properly installed and not overloaded/abused?

Even more confused.

If the factory warranty is 5yr/60k and indeed we’re talking about extended warranties say 8yr/100k, the truck then has a warranty for 13yr/160k.

Otherwise, they run concurrent with the factory warranty of 5yr/60k and your 8yr/100k has “extended” the factory warranty by 3yr/40k.

I’ve never bothered or dealt with extra warranties until I purchased my new Ranger. I wanted one but went round and around for 20 minutes with the dealer. He kept saying I was purchasing 8 years when in fact I was purchasing 3.

True -the warranty has the trade name of extended warranty, it can be misleading.
Similar to the term Allen or Crescent Wrench

Agree. If you get a 10/100k you’re really only getting a 7/64k extension on B2B and 5/50k on powertrain.

Why they don’t just tell you the length of the extension (instead of from the purchase date) is beyond me.
