Heat wave here , was just thinking that a "windows down " maybe 2 inches and no up for safety would be a nice feature to let some of this blast furnace air out before I get in ...

This is where the entire industry is going. So what does this mean exactly? If i am losing these features i am done with Ford. Loyal Ford guy for 40 years, done. I am still waiting for the umpteen time to get this lemon fixed. No air conditioning due to the hvac box issue. Been waiting couple months now I think. If this is true i'm trading it in don't care about the market, this was one of the reasons i bought it.
it would be a complete waste of time because there's no way that's controlled in the app rather than on the back end. the app update just eliminates a user interface element that would either do nothing or error out. What if you just disabled automatic updates? Is that possible?
I thought you were joking, but BMW is charging owners in Korea $18.00/month for heated seats, snd $10.00/month for heated steering wheel. This is where the entire industry is going.
Some manufacturers are VERY bad about this. Like Audi and Tesla.
Oh you want heated seats? You have to pay a monthly subscription to turn them on.
Absolutely unacceptable.I thought you were joking, but BMW is charging owners in Korea $18.00/month for heated seats, snd $10.00/month for heated steering wheel.
BMW to charge for heated seats and steering wheel.
I read that yesterday. Unbelievable. Having to pay to use features on your car.I thought you were joking, but BMW is charging owners in Korea $18.00/month for heated seats, snd $10.00/month for heated steering wheel.

I remember posting an article about this last year, now it looks like more are doing this. It's bad enough we have to deal with slimy dealers adding huge markups now these manufacturers are going to hit us too. What's next a monthly subscription to actually be able to drive your vehicle?I read that yesterday. Unbelievable. Having to pay to use features on your car.
The article mentioned how people will come up with work arounds or jail break the system. Manufacturers were quick to point out that the warranty would be null and void.......I remember posting an article about this last year, now it looks like more are doing this. Cynical answer is, now part of your buying decision going forward is how does/will Ford's cost for subscription features compare with competitors? I haven't checked, but I bet GM, Stellantis, Toyota, etc forum members are just as resentful about now having to pay for formerly free connectivity features. As Dave alluded to, we saw this coming sooner or later. OEM's were looking for new revenue streams a decade or more ago and saw a hugely profitable market for selling app-based features. So what does this mean exactly? I only use the FordPass to remote start my truck whenever FordPass decides the work. I do like the vehicle stats but I don’t need them.
I do really like the location map of where the truck is especially when I park downtown Denver.
What's that worth? $2.99/mo. subscription? More? Less?Heat wave here , was just thinking that a "windows down " maybe 2 inches and no up for safety would be a nice feature to let some of this blast furnace air out before I get in ...
hide it in my truck payment , I would consider a small fee in the summer if I could app my windows up and down , maybe , and control the fan , it should blow max air when it's 400 degrees inside my truck and I app start it ...What's that worth? $2.99/mo. subscription? More? Less?
Don't plant any seeds. What's next a monthly subscription to actually be able to drive your vehicle?
"...OOOHHH, You want better performance? Well for only pennies a day you can have the full throttle-by-wire accelerator pedal travel, not just the first 20% opening! Click here to be connected to a FordPass specialist after being on hold for half hour fo more details..."Don't plant any seeds.
The app upcharges will be billed monthly, so they wouldn't be able to be included in your payment., but like other brands, you could set it up on automatic withdrawal Like your cable or satellite bill. Features that are popular will likely be bundled together and require lower bundles e.g.:hide it in my truck payment , I would consider a small fee in the summer if I could app my windows up and down , maybe , and control the fan , it should blow max air when it's 400 degrees inside my truck and I app start it ...
