Watch, in a few months they will offer the removed stuff again for a monthly fee. ?
Exactly! This goes back to that article I posted last year where many of the manufacturers are going subscription based even for the basic stuff like remote start, lock/unlock the doors. Luckily most of these things you can get with other apps like Waze which run much better anyways.

So what does this mean exactly? If i am losing these features i am done with Ford. Loyal Ford guy for 40 years, done. I am still waiting for the umpteen time to get this lemon fixed. No air conditioning due to the hvac box issue. Been waiting couple months now I think. If this is true i'm trading it in don't care about the market, this was one of the reasons i bought it.

what the hell ford... have they not already removed enough from the rangers! i really like my 4g ranger. its like a good work boot. always ready for more use no matter how ugly it gets. and this new ranger i have loved but it is so frequent that i see more of the little joys and comfy features gone, removed etc. ive had 4 brand new off the lot fords since 2015, im a loyal customer but this is getting silly. that ugly new frontier is really looking better all the time. it has some goodies the rangers dont and i would bet is just as capable. i bet the frontier has adjustable headrests and bed tie downs i paid for, was lead to believe i was getting and then got hosed on.
yes, im still grumpy over the head rest lol.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but just my 2¢;

I don’t use any of the “features” being removed, and can’t imagine many people do. I can see how the removal can make for a lighter, more responsive and intuitive design. So no complaints on that.

HOWEVER, I am upset about the removal of viewing the vehicle details mentioned. As a Siri Shortcut, I like being able to ask what’s my trucks range, odometer, etc.

My best advice is to figure what’s really important and when the update takes effect, leave a 1 start review asking for specific features to return. Be realistic though.
I have seen countless times apps get updated with new designs and features removed and With enough feedback, developers listen.

RANGER5G, UNITE!

I so seldom use Ford Pass that they could eliminate it all together and I would likely never notice. Certainly all the things they are removing are not things I have ever used.

Now the APP they screwed up that I really like was Ford + Alexa. I have been using that extensively since my 17 Mustang. The most recent update now requires you to unlock your phone in order to use the Alexa wake up word which makes the APP useless to me.

journey's -- useless
app catalog, -- mostly useless
POI search - useless. ( have my phone anyways)
pin my spot --maybe useful if parking in an unknown area.
send directions, um waze or google maps anyways

at least the vehicle health (oil change numbers and tire pressure are useful) will stick around.

None of these bother me now but if they break the Siri shortcuts I will be upset.

I don't use most of those features. Only thing I use is scheduled starts and remote start/stop. Only think I used in the App Catalog is Pandora, but that can be run without it.

Ford has a Trailer Check Feature??? Was this all Rangers, or just higher trim levels?

I'm with you on the trailer check feature, which i was unaware of. Seems like a useful concept at least.

There are some features that seem marketing driven and I suspect Ford is not putting investment in selling advertising to locality based companies (restaurants, gas stations, POI) since there hasn't been a return on whatever resources put into it.

It's likely competing services and the last couple years downturn in driving causing this.

At least I keep my 0% interest.

I found the trailer check feature buried in the dash menus once. but I didn't know it was accessible through Ford Pass, too.

I'm mostly not bothered by these particular things. When I need similar functions, I use other apps for them.

I occasionally use the FordPass app to check vehicle health type stuff, though. I've used the app for remote start once or twice, and definitely to lock my doors when I forgot to lock them in the parking lot at work and drove off in a work vehicle for the day.
