Ford bug deflector -- Big disappointment!!

Made a trip up the Interstate today and ran into some Florida "Luv bugs" and found out the Ford bug deflector doesn't deflect luv bugs!! Windshield has about 30 smashed bugs!! Really disappointing. The deflector I had on my 2005 F-150 kept the windshield clean .... oh well, too late to change now...

This is why I use a bug deflector, also. They DO deflect stuff from hitting the hood. The windshield? Meh. That's what RainX and windshield wipers are for.

Love Bugs are nasty SOB's. I didn't know what they were the first time I encountered them, and the paint on my hood got pitted and nasty as a result, because I waited too long to wash them off.

I got the one from the Ford dealer that's the slightly less expensive one. Smoked plastic with mounting clips. I used my Ford Pass points for it. So far I'm happy with it.

Yeah, that's the one I got.. It's okay, just doesn't seem to deflect bugs off the windshield...

I never expected it to do that. I got it to keep bugs and rocks off of my hood.

I just put on the weather tech bug deflector, and I'm pretty happy with it. Admittedly I don't know how well it will work, but I think it will do a good job protecting the hood.

I got it over their hood protector because the latter is mailing 3m tape and a couple clips. This is 8 screws in preexisting holes in the underside of the hood. Seemed more secure.

I have a chance to get the Ford deflector with a lip ... it is mounted with double-sided tape all around. Anybody have experience with that one?? I'm not sure about having it stuck to the paint vs. the one I have with the clips.. Comments???

The Aeroskin II? I'm very happy with mine. Got it on Amazon though.
