Can someone measure the distance between the bedside marked by blue tape in the attached pic and the edge of the rack as you swivel it past that point? I’m trying to see if will clear the rails of my tonneau cover and I can’t find any measurements anywhere. Thanks in advance...

I don't have one, but I would guess based just on this photo that it would not clear your tonneau with it in the closed position. Not sure if they make a shorter version anywhere.

Thanks, it’s hard for me to judge from pics. And, I‘ve read some posts here that the extender does work with some covers, but i can’t find anything about mine. They do make a spacer kit, so I guess I could just try it and order the kit if needed.

No it won't clear your cover. I have a soft tonneau cover and I have to fold my cover back about 4 flips to be able to use my bed extender.

Right, I’m just trying to determine if the extender will clear the tonneau rails once the cover is folded back.

Sorry, with my extender flipped inside the bed I have 4 3/4" from the tallest point to the bottom cover. I also have a factory plastic bed liner and a rubber bed mat in there which will add to the height.

Here's a post with a Retrax cover and a bed extender that has no issues.

One with a Backflip cover and there's plenty of room.

Morning..sorry I'm not fully understanding your question re: blue tape measurement but here are some pics. With a tri-fold hard tonneau.

Msg me if you need something more specific.

Cheers.

thanks for the replies and thanks James for the measurements and pics! I’m pretty sure an extender will not clear the side rails of the LoPro based on your pics. Thanks

Do you guys use the extender much? Just curious because I had one on my last Sport Trac and found I never used it and infact folded in it was often in the way.

I use mine all the time as I carry a 6' ladder for work. When I'm not working I usually just flip it inside the bed and it's great for keeping smaller stuff like groceries or bottled water corralled inside it and not flying all over the place.

I did used to use mine for securing propane bottle but that was about it. They are great when you do need them but I was taking it out more often to make room. But as mentioned that was a Sport Trac and they had short beds.

Our water here in gross so we use the 5 gal water bottles that I fill at the store. The extender is great for keeping 3 of those corralled inside the extender. I can see it getting in the way for those who use the whole bed for storage or hauling stuff on a daily/weekly basis though.

I’ve seen the installation videos on this bed extender and it looks like the swing out tool boxes won’t work with the extender.
Can anyone verify this please??

Or can the swing out tool boxes and the bed extender work together?

The swing out boxes don't even work well on Rangers without the bed extender.
