I have converted two maglites to LED.

Same here. It doesn't make sense, but I did this a long time ago (10+yrs) and the batteries are still good with occasional use. With the old bulbs the batteries would go flat w/in a year or two with the same low use.

Yeah, I have better flashlights too, but couldn't stand throwing out the Maglites.
