Hey everyone! I’m a new Ranger owner with 53k miles. For winter, I’m planning to pump out, measure, and replace the ATF in the pan. After winter, I’ll replace the pan and filter with a PPE pan.

Does anyone know of an inexpensive oil pump that works with the Fitzstick extended transmission dipstick tube? I just need something that’ll work a couple of times to pump out the ATF and add fresh fluid since it’s never been changed. This is a temporary fix while I budget for the PPE pan.

Thanks!

Any of the small 12 volt pumps on Amazon will work just fine.
I bought a Dasbet 12 volt/60 watt extraction pump for $16.55 via Amazon for the exact purpose your needing. Works just fine and comes with the appropriate hose lines, one of which fits down the Fitzstick tube perfectly.

I used this based on others here. Worked perfectly!

Don't rely on the barbs to keep the hose on, especially the discharge hose.

Back them up with some hose clamps.

Ask me how I know.

I planned on using that same pump, I even bought the fluid, but the transmission in my truck has had enough problems where the dealer has had the pan down, or the trans out twice, so I haven't needed to change the fluid.
I did get them to put on the Mishimoto deep pan during one of the repairs, it will be nice with a drain plug, that's if I ever get enough miles on it to want to drain it, I think it's still got problems

Dasbet pump is a piece of garbage , worked for a couple of minutes then stopped pumping, I've generally had good luck buying cheap stuff made in China but my luck has run out with this pump. And I'm past the return window, just a heads up. Gave it a well deserved sh*t review on amazon.

Mine is working fine....the 2 time's I've used it. You realize that these pumps are all pretty much alike, and most likely made in the same backyard factory somewhere in some un-pronounceable town in China....
Yours just may have slipped by their quality control section.....the one where the employee looks at it and says "OK" and sends it thru....
Too late to request a return to Amazon ????

Fixed it - very simple centrifugal pump but if the pump cover bolts aren't tight - well it just sucks air , annoying but it worked well.

I've used mine at least 4 times and it still runs fine. I do pull the fluid out cold. 3 times under 7K miles when I had massive transmission troubles. The once when I screwed up and had to pull the pan anyway, so I went ahead and changed the filter and installed the PPE Deep pan on this last week.

2 weeks back bought a rechargeable stick vacuum for daughter in her new (Dad assisted financed) townhome, like most things I research before buying - amazon has 20 or more of these things and most are made from the same basic components, and many have a link that takes you to their "store" to create the impression that you are buying something unique.
Now I have purchased homes on 5 occasions, the 1st back in the early 80s was easy as we assumed a VA loan, but purchasing this townhome was really vexing - all the unnecessary charges and incorrectly done figures, totally unacceptable and complaining to the Colorado regulatory agency does absolutely nothing as they are clearly influenced by real estate lobbying.
It burns me when HOAs and there were 2 involved are permitted to charge $350 to transfer the ownership records - a 15 minute job at best as I've done HOA treasurer/secretary work and we charged a reasonable $100. And stuff like an overnight $60 doc fee - refuse to pay it along with a number of inflated or unnecessary charges - I think most people that finance thru a bank just roll everything into the mortgage and don't challenge all of the unnecessary charges and one wonders why acquiring a home is prohibitively costly.

Since I've been towing, (probably 10k miles) decided to pull/replace some fluid at 50k - it was what I'd describe as dark red - certainly not black and no burnt smell or other indications that it was beyond it's useful life span, have drained ATF in the past from a toasted tranny and the burnt smell is unmistakable. So it would appear the fluid is doing what it should - holding fine particles in suspension, but yes it gets dirtier and dirtier as the miles pile on. I just wish I could do a complete flush as I've done with past vehicles that have tranny coolers up in the front radiator stack.
