Bought the truck new on Dec 30th of 21.

It has has an intermittent squeak since new.
Unfortunately with my work schedule i never had time to dedicate to bringing it in for " just a squeak " while under bumper to bumper warranty. She's at 47k miles now.

Over the last several months ( since I rolled past 36k) it has gotten considerably more consistent. I have trouble shot via every single squeaky truck thread I could find here I've been unable to solve it until today.

The back bushing on the rear right leaf spring is either damage or missing from factory.

Could someone point me to the correct part number so I can get this truck finally quiet.

First pic is the bushing ( or lack there of) where the squeak comes from. The second is on the other leaf spring

Contact Benny here @LevittownFordParts.com

He can hook you up.

I think you need part number AB3Z5781A but confirm that with Benny.

I bought mine new in December 21 also and it came with a leaking rear brake caliper. Looks like they were having some quality issues from the plant!

You didn't know the late 21 XLT trim came standard with some sort of a squeak?

My Nov 21 purchase had two; one of the mounts for the bed wasn't torqued down right (dealer found/fixed after having it for 2ish weeks?) and the bird like squeaking from the e-brake junction thing (I fixed that thanks to someone on this forum).

The only good to come of that mess... it is pretty much rust proofed for Houston. Everything from the cab back has some assortment of grease or garage door spray on it in various quantities. Trying to track down the sound via oiling the crap out of stuff then driving it.

All that said; that sucks that it was found out of warranty. Should be cheap enough. Hope you are enjoying a quiet truck soon. I had a chevy do something similar. I never got around to fixing it before I got rid of it. I really only heard that one if I had the window down and went past something that could bounce the sound back at me.

Oh my truck has as much grease and lubrication from the cab back as yours! E brake, every bed bushing I could get to, every hanger, everything.

Honestly don't know how I didn't see the missing bushing earlier.

Will be ordering / installing what Ford didn't see fit to install themselves.

Hi Soazc,

The springs come into the Ford Assembly with the bushing installed. This is a supplier quality issue. Still sad that this happened...

Best,
Phil

Thanks for the info Phil!

I emailed my dealer to see if they would help out even though I'm out of bumper to bumper ( driving 2k miles a month racks up quickly).

I'm expecting to hear a "No" but I'm hoping that since it was a factory/supplier issue and the truck was bought new less than 2 years ago I may get some sort of good will gesture.

As an update, both the dealer and Ford themselves said I'm SOL . Since it's past the mileage warranty I'd have to pay diagnostic ,service and parts.... all to get a bushing their supplier forgot to include and Ford's assembly team installed on the truck anyway.... on a truck that's less than 2 years old.

Since all the above is going to cost more than a set of aftermarket bushings, I guess I'm going that route.

Ford assembles it, no?

Assembly plant line workers may catch gross problems but they have extreme tight limits on time. It is expected that the part as delivered from the supplier is good. To expect line workers to perform quality control just does not happen....There is incoming quality sampling but something like OP reports simply is hit or miss.

Seeing the remaining bushing is cracked considerably, and I don't see the tell tale sign of metal on metal contact - no fretting dust, or black soot from micro abrasion, I'm skeptical the bushing has been missing for almost two years.
Not saying it wasn't defective from day 1, but I'm not convinced it wasn't there at all.
Might be premature to blame Ford. Once you pull it apart, you may find the remaining part of the bushing still in the bore. Let us know whats in there or not in there.

Ordered the Robinsons set from Exit off road.

I sincerely doubt you'd see any of the "tell tales signs" considering how often I wash this truck and it's under carriage.

Will definitely post pictures of the swap.
