Looking for some aggressive tires for offroading, these might fit the bill for the budget. Anyone with similar hybrid tires similar size hate their tires and have regret ? I get I'll lose some mpg and maybe some acceleration with the much heavier tires but these duelers also don't seem like the best tires anyways .

Every Federal tire I've been exposed to wears EXTREMELY FAST regardless of what the rating is. So... consider that.

I have Toyo Open Country AT2.

Pretty quiet on the highway and more than capable. Don't appear close in price to the more aggressive ATs.
Ya was looking for something pretty aggressive was planning on doing some more difficult trails up in Alaska more offroad than road around fairbanks.

The factory Bridgestone tires are definitely not that great overall and I like the Bridgestone Firestone brand!!! My 3rd set was the Dueler Revo 3. An ok tire and probably not what you are looking for. My 4th set that i had installed last weekend is the Firestone Destination XT in size 285/70-17. I also have the Old Man EMU lift kit installed. I am still using the factory wheels and no spacers. On the street no rubbing. Offroad I have little rub at all. Just had to push the front crash bars forward and remove the covers from them. Overall I can say i like them!!

ya im almost leaning to get the kenda klever reviews seem to say great things about them, decent on road still, and the price for 4 285/70/17 is 800$ seems like that might be the play. i just have a 2" front lift right now, eventually ill either get a 2.0 or 2.5 depending on my budget in a few months.

some of the trails i was looking at trying up in fairbanks AK area say they need 35s but im guessing i can do them just fine with good driving and good tires.

Can't speak fornthe Kenda tire but there are a few more members on here that also have the Destination XT and they love it!!. It is still a new tire but it does extremely well. Also with just a 2 inch leveling kit you should be able to fit the Firestone with no major issues. If anything you just need to mess with the front crash bars like I did. Go with a different tire in that size and you might(key word) have to do other things for fitment.

ya im thinking ill just remove the crash bars and get the aftermarket ones when i get around to it avoid the issues of a chunky tire. Looks easy enough to slide them out with the few bolts.

It is more than just a few bolts and slide them out. The bumper is in the way on the front ones and the fender on the back ones. It can be done but “easy” is subjective. Check out the install instructions for each brand. Most say cut both front and back. BDS says to remove the bumper for the front. I have been putting off installing mine because of the work, I do not have the time right now.

I did some very extensive research on Kenda as a company. I ended up adding a 2.5" leveling lit and went with the Kenda Klever AT2, 265/70/17. I kept my stock wheels and added 1" wheel spacers. I use this truck for commuting. We go to the mountains 3-4 times a year and during the snow, when it is freezing. I wanted to get the RTs but they would be overkill for me. These tires are 115T, 560b tread wear, 14/32" out of the gate and a 60k mile warranty. I bought a spare rim and 5 tires delivered, mounted and balanced for $790. It was a no-brainer for me. People were talking about Falken and General and K02s and Discovery and Nitto and I said, "Who am I kidding? I drive in the dirt and snow 20 days a year." I'll spring for wheels one day but now I'm just loving the look and waiting for it to snow. These are a true hybrid but they still look aggressive. Nice and quiet and plenty soft at 40 psi. If I could do it all over again, the answer would be a resounding YES.

I'm sure it's set up as nice for what you like but my suggestion is to lower the tire pressure. The reason I say so is simply for the fact that only the stock size LT tires Ford recommend at 38 PSI. At 265 70 17 Ford recommends 30 PSI for the LT. At 285 70 17 on an LT I'm still running 30 PSI and it is just right

Thank you. 285s are massive... You are going to take up two parking spaces with all that rubber. You are crazy but I want to see pics. Lol.

Thank you for the thoughts on PSI. You have my attention. I was planning on bumping up the PSI to 42 cold. These tires are not LT, if that makes a difference. If I overlooked something, I'm always ready to learn something new or look at a different perspective. Give it to me.
