Hi Folks,

We had a turn of luck of sorts. Winds shifted the fire East and we got the word over the emergency system on our phones that we were back to Set from the Ready, Set and Go, So we returned to the RV, keeping the Ranger fully loaded with key stuff. It was a sleepless night but conditions today continue to keep us in Set with added reinforcements of more air tankers and ground crews. It will be a tense day with winds gusting to 50mph. This somewhat resprite allowed us to rethink other things to load into the Ranger, like the forgotten check book for example...

At lease the coffee this Monday AM is refreshing... we will sit tight with all the other RVers today and pray for the fire crews...These tanker plane pilots are flying into harms way...and hot shot ground crews...all hero's in our minds.

Red Cross has opened up a shelter in a Jr, High School, so we do have some place to go other than the CVS Drug parking lot if we need to Go due to wind shift.... Tense time but no structures or people harmed at this time....

Best,
Phil

Glad you’re safe. I think I would be packing up and going home.

Glad everyone's safe and hopefully there's no high winds or flare ups. That was one thing that worried me about moving to AZ was the lack of rain, how dry everything is and wildfires. But I guess it beats snow, tornados and hurricanes. Good luck and hopefully tonight you all can get some rest.

BTW I heard they spotted Tito walking down Rt 66 this morning back the Green Valley.

Glad to hear you and family are safe. I remember driving around the area 10 years ago. You could still see the black trees from the last fire.

They need to put out the fires in NM - got back to Pagosa last night and the air quality is bad here prevailing SW winds bringing smoke , was camping in SW CO where there is a stage 1 fire ban, but friend had a propane fire pit so we had a fire.
So we went to a national forest campground and it may have had the laziest/corrupt host I've ever encountered as every site had a reserved tag on it, yet the campground was not even half full, we sought out the host who told us "no need to fill out the envelope, you can just give me the money" passed on that and even worse the guy told us we could have a fire so long as it was in the fire ring, there is a stage 1 ban in place . I reported this clown to the ranger's office earlier today.
Seeing a half full campground on a Sat night in a popular area reinforces my opinion that the price of gas is having an impact and it's only going to get worse. Good news is that it may make roads easier for travel with less behemoth slow moving RVs clogging the roads. In a couple of hrs I will be driving by "Fun Valley" in S Fork where I will see hundreds of RVs all snuggled up close to each other, now that really looks like fun :sunglasses:

Phil glad you Margie and Tito are all fine! My sister is a survivor of the California wild fires last year. She lives south of San Francisco in a redwood forest. The fire came within 2/10’s of a mile from her house before they got it under control. They would not let her move back into her house before all the soot and fire retardant got cleaned off. Guess it’s a carcinogen. She’s on SSI so no way to pay for that. I pitched in for all the supplies and a commercial HEPA vacuum and her kids did all the cleaning. Just saying that thinking of Tito!

Hope they get it out faster than they did here in NM. We’re only sitting on about 650,000 acres burned so far this year. Won’t be long and I won’t recognize here or az

There was some confusion on that pic I believe, That's not Phil's truck , Tito called in a "favor " , it seems Phil wasn't moving fast enough, ITHO ... (In Titos humble opinion)
Hi NB,
