I finally had a chance to complete my engine wash today using the "Total Cycle Cleaner" @Glocker recommended above. Very pleased with the results. I used both the S100 "Total Cycle Cleaner' and the "Engine Brightener Aerosol". Just followed directions on the bottle which was pretty basic ...spray it on and wash it off...

Below are before/after pics...

Engine after S100 Total Cycle Cleaner applied and hosed off:

Engine wash after S100 Engine Brightener Aerosol simply sprayed on:

This stuff definitely works!

Looks great Rene! My engine compartment looks way worse than yours did, now I'm gonna have to do mine. Something else to spend money on.

Looks great! Thanks for posting the before and after pics. Did you spray the cleaner on the engine cover too?
Good question! I did not spray it on the engine cover. I didn't get a good before pic of the engine cover, but it wasn't dirty enough to worry about, so I didn't spray it. Not sure how this product would do on that softer material though.

I will say it did leave a little spotting on my windshield. The directions do say to wipe dry with a soft towel to avoid spotting, and I would suggest doing that right way after rinsing.

You guys with experience washing down the engine. Can I use a power washer to briefly wash my engine safely? A animal decided to use my engine cover as a nesting place for a little bit.

So.....based on this thread, I decided to order some of the s100 total cycle wash, and the engine brightener.

Here are the results on my wife's Honda Pilot.

Before:

After:

Total time was about 20 minutes. Needless to say I'm sold.

Ya! It really was as easy as they said. I kept thinking of the stupid commercial " Spray, wipe and rinse" Except this was spray, rinse, and wipe lol.

Half of the 20 min time was just letting the engine brightener sit before wiping.

My buddy has a portable (trailered) pressured steam cleaner. So it’s like a power washer and hot steam gun all in one. That thing is amazing. I can clean my engine in about 5 minutes with it. Let it dry and can serve dinner off the thing! ?
