Mine sits just an RCH under half, ive watched that gauge on mountain roads at over 8K in elevation or going through Needles AZ at an outside temp of 112 and it will barely move, the only move I have ever noticed is the Arizona one where it moved just a another colored hair closer to the half way mark. This truck has an awesome cooling system, this is my only engine issue I have had and I am glad it's not an issue the other way. I really enjoy the ability to put out a question and get helpful responses, a great community.
I have a 2019 and have had it overheat while towing (pretty sure it was due to debris between radiator and A/C coil) and the gauge jumps from normal to overheated. Cools down and jumps from overheated to normal. I believe this is the way this gauge works. It rises from cold to normal over several minutes of driving, but jumps from normal to overheated. Mark

I know how the gauge works, half way is normal operating temperature. Yours should not be overheating at all, I have never towed with mine but have been in some extreme temps and never an issue. Mine has lately had an issue maintaining normal temp. I watch my gauge and in 5 years of driving its never done this.

I understand your situation; I was just trying to add some clarification for others as to how the gauge works.
I'm pretty sure I solved my overheating issue by removing the debris I mentioned; I haven't towed yet so I can't confirm.

Was there a lot of debris? I have an appointment for the 29th to have it looked at. Glad I do have an extended warranty, I cannot imagine it not being covered, I had a higher end warranty for 125K miles. Hope yours stops overheating..
