I finally decided to go ahead and order shocks for my Ranger. I decided to go with the eibach stage 2 ..because overkill for my needs but whatever. I like the idea of having a complete package. So I message Hotshot Offroad for a price and he says $1000 shipped. He then asks me if I'd be interested in a 2r kit for $150 more and I went for it. They are moving to a new shop, he had the 2r in stock and would rather get them out the way.

According to Eibach the 2rs are set for a 2 inch lift on a 4wd and about a 3inch lift for 2wd. I'm wanting to keep it close to stock and I'll be cranking them down a good bit I guess. The eibach rep recommended I get their upgraded spanner wrench to make it easier to spin. Has anyone had any issues with the stock spanner wrench?

This is the upgraded wrench. Much thicker and has a slot for a 1/2 ext to give you more leverage. Seems to be a well made tool. I don't know if $50 is worth the one time I'll use it.

Great shocks and a good price.

When I ordered my Eibachs, the sales rep encouraged me to wait as the new spanner wrench was just around the corner. He shipped them a month later, but with the original spanner wrench. I called and told them my new redesigned spanner wrench wasn't in the box, They sent me a second original spanner wrench! I let it go figuring they had dropped the project.

Now I see them selling them as a $50 upgrade... Thanks, but no thanks!

I've got the rears on, but have not got around to the fronts. I think I'm going to lower the diff with a kit to keep the axles close to the stock angles. Only going up 1" - 1.5" at the most. I am really after a more controlled ride... raising an 1" would put me back to the stock rake as the rear shocks raised the back by 1"

Thinking about this....hmmm... if I lower the diff, the axles retain the stock angle, but it seems that the front driveshaft angle will increase instead! Is this a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul?

Anyone care to comment

$150 upgrade, you got a deal, seeing that Stage 2 are listed at $905 and Stage 2R at $1415.

But I see there is still no listing for 4x4 or trucks with the 2.7.

Edit: I looked through their installation manual. Doesn't seem like too hard of a job to install, not much more that adding top hat spacers.

The 4x4 and 2wd part numbers for the stage 2 and 2r are the same. It shows it on the eibach website. At one point it was not listed for the 2wd. Some vendors have not updated their listing.

The install will be like any other front shock/spring install, so no worries there. Just gotta get it lowered down.

If you break the spanner they will send you another. I broke mine on the second turn. Luckily they sent one out pretty quick. You need it 1x so would also save the $50
