Has anyone run into the floor duct getting in the way of pushing your brake pedal? It hangs way down right in front of the brake pedal.
Several times I experienced where I couldn’t push the pedal as the duct prevented me from pushing it to stop.
I pulled the lower panel down and “bent it” at the split and used some aluminum tape to hold the discharge end up and out of the way.
Dealer acknowledged the issue but said they have not heard of this from any one else. Could very much be a safety concern.

There's a few other threads with the same issue. Most have done a similar fix as what you did.

Hi Robert,

There are several threads on this exact topic... Seems to affect a few people for some reason...most popular mod is to trim an inch or so off the opening. I have looked at mine and I have no concern at all.

Folks are quick to jump on the safety aspect of this concern for some reason but it does not meet any definition of safety as far as I can see.

best,
Phil

It only has one support holding it up. If it came disconnected from the tube it can swing down and totally block your pedal.

I felt it when I test drove it. I thought it was a “security panel” under there. Until I couldn’t brake several times then crawled under there to see what the issue was. I have thought about trimming and inch off of the discharge end as well. I was a Ford tech and Hevay Equipment mechanic for 45 years.

I have size 11’s and I’m usually wearing work boots or winter boots. I’ve never had an issue with it and, honestly, I had to have a look under there to see what the concern is for others.

I’m pretty sure you can make a tidy job of trimming it with a Dremel tool.

Blocking which pedal? Brake or accelerator?

This happened to me a few times when I first got the truck. I think I've gotten my driving position situated an now my heels are back so the angle of my foot swings under the vent.

I did Lemon Law investigations for 23 years. I would consider that a safety issue.

Size 11 here too. I’ve driven literally thousands of cars. Never had one do this. I’ve had pedals go to the floor but never one you couldn’t push down. When I took another stab at I almost sent my wife through the windshield.
