I think it actually has less or the same....
The OEM is much larger than and the CFV pipe, so
it I think it holds more heat! Also the insulation helps hold that
heat in longer. I was going to insulate mine but after Badrangers install,
I notice there is a lot more room in the engine cabin there for the air to move
around. It actually seems a little cooler to me, so I chose not to insulate mine.

Well, we’re only in the 80’s here in southeast Arkansas but so far I’m not noticing any excessive heat coming from the down pipe area. Will keep a lookout as the temps get higher here.

Also, I forgot to add, I did a 50-mile trip today and I check the hood heat
and I don't think its going to be a problem. High today was 89f.
I pulled the rubber flap back in the wheel well and checked there too!

Update!
Just rolled over 20.000 miles! no worries...
Heat has not been a problem. I love the throaty sound of my MRBR exhause with
the dual 3" setup!
Little loud with the pipe but well worth it!

Went from 17 mpg to 23 mpg with the downpipe and Turbosmart BOV. Installed about a week apart. Not sure which one helps more, heard people saying their BOV helped mpg's.... probably both?

Either way I'm stoked on the change, butt dyno says there's something there and the mpg backs up that something is more efficient.

Maybe time for an intercooler and pipes to see how well the full package does...

Note that I'm pretty sure I've never seen 23 mpg since I've owned it new, I was getting 21-22 on avg (completely stock, highway on a good day), the lift dropped it 1-2 mpg and tires did the same.

Downpipe is turning a cool heat treated color, almost wanna leave the splash guard off

My lawyers have advised me to mention that 17mpg over thousands of miles obviously includes real world truck things, like towing and off-roading...

I'll beleive those numbers when you put another 8500 miles on TRIP 1 and are still getting those kind of numbers. One tank full is not an average.

I don't think 8000mi is necessary, maybe two or three tanks at what 250-300mi each? Let's say 750mi or so and then report back at fill up #4.

Or you could just do four tanks and report back after 1000mi. I think that's plenty to say you're seeing a bump in mpg

"Beleive" what you want, I'm sure it's just a fluke reading for the first time in 60,000 miles of driving.

I'll be sure to update in a few tanks so we don't think the computers are lying to us. I didn't think Sync 3 had AGI.

Just saying, a 35% increase in gas mileage is HUGE! Especially for a couple of mods considered performance mods.

The 8K+ mile average is a valid average number. That 400 mileage number is a snapshot number. There is so much that goes into what fuel mileage you get that snapshots will very all over the map.

If you could get a REAL 35% increase in fuel mileage by putting a downpipe and blowout valve on. Everyone, including Ford would be doing it.

Hello guys,
I will chime in and tell you all that I have experienced so far.
I did the MRBR dual exhaust and BOV at the same time with not much noticeable difference.
When I did airbox, pipes, intercooler and downpipe I did notice an increase in mileage.
But this last thing killed IT!
I did the performance tune from Revolution; Man did it wake the truck up!
You truly don't get the benefits of those bolt on mods till you tune it.
But it killed my milage! Like the saying goes, got to pay to play!
As for now with the performance tune, I lost about 3 miles per gallon average. (Even being good!)
As for the milage thing, my foot has gotten heavier because I like to hear those pipes roar! And feel that thrust! Guess it brought out the kid in me again!
Worse case if I get tired of it, I can always go back to stock with the tune, and it should bring the milage back up. The performance tune keeps the truck running in a higher rpm range so that takes away from the higher gas mileage.

I know different people has had different experiences with their vehicles.
This is what I have experienced with mine.

8k miles at 17mpg includes towing and I've swapped to lighter winter tires recently, but as stated I haven't seen anywhere near 23mpg since lifted, even with lighter tires each winter. I'd estimate this recent change is +2mpg.

I guess we'll just have to see how it goes

Interesting, I'd imagine Mike's tune is a little more aggressive than what most of us have, if he was able to tune for your specific mod setup. Bit nicer than a OTS tune. Did you get one of his air intakes?

I drive around in Sport mode mostly, have the livernois tow tune installed. Maybe time to switch to the sport 91 tune this winter to see how it goes.

OK. Now this is beginning to be more believable. +2 is a long way from the +6 you first showed us. I still stand by my statement that the 400 mile number is a snapshot and could be high. 800 to 1000 miles with multiple fill ups will give a better picture. And, towing will really kill your long term mileage.

Throw my 2cents in.

That huge of an increase in MPG seems a little crazy. I've seen mine fluctuate between 17 to 23 MPG depending on my mods.

Currently closer to 17 but I have winch, 33inch tires and full steel skid plates added to everyday weight.

I have an S&B intake, cvf downpipe, 3 inch spd axel dump exhaust, monotune intercooler and charge pipes, Turbosmart BoV, Livernois 91+ performance tune.

Only noticeable MPG increases i noticed was my after installing the intake, adding the tune, and getting a truck bed cover. My noticeable losses was from leveling and removing the air dam, adding winch and full skids and I definitely lost MPG with a downpipe and exhaust but being honest it was probably due to my driving habit changes from enjoying the snappy response and sounds.

Thanks for explaining the obvious. If you read carefully, I wasn't assuming I had a +6 mpg gain.

Just posting my observations that something other than butt dyno is observable.
