Dome Light Removal

stupid question, but I’m willing to ask anyway...how the hell does the dome light in the rear cab come out? I need to drop the headliner to get my antenna off.

See section 417-02 of the service manual sticky. Looks like you just need a flat screwdriver.

Yea that shows how to get the cover off, which is helpful, but nothing really on the unit as a whole. Was hoping there might be a headliner removal section but couldn't find one.

No. No I did not. A lot of frustration because of it, and I didn't want to break anything.

I got the whole dome light removed, but it doesn't offer any help in getting at the antenna.

How did you get it off? Once that is off, you just have to remove the handles, some trim pieces around the back, and the headliner should drop down a little bit enough to reach the mounting hardware for the sharkfin part. I got my headliner to drop with all those afore mentioned parts removed, but the dome light assembly was preventing me from getting enough room.

I can take some pics to show how it is clipped in. Its just a matter of releasing the clips just right and pulling it down. Then right behind the dome light is a strong magnet that's attached to the headliner, which holds it up to the metal roof.

So, removing the dome light is very easy once you know exactly where the clips are located. All you'll need is either a small flat head screwdriver or a plastic trim removal tool. Slide it up in between the dome light and the trim on the front side, and pop it loose. You can see in the pics where the retaining clips are. The dome light diffuser doesn't need to be removed, which I figured out after getting the whole assembly loose. The trim piece stays attached to the head liner.

How do you get the front dome lamp assembly out? Im wanting to put the sunglasses holder in the headliner like the xlt and lariat has.

Wait, you're taking the entire assembly of the antenna off?

Why? and won't that leave a hole up there?

I knocked mine loose and would love to get rid of it all together.
