The turn down make that much more of a difference compared to a dual exhaust?

My truck stays running with the dogs in it pretty often.
I wouldn't know as I have never heard a late model Ranger with duals, but from all of the exhaust sound clips out there for different systems, including dual rear exit, I have to admit that the turndown MBRP is exceedingly mellow and deep for a 4cyl on my truck. Of course the turbo helps with that, but I was pleasantly surprised. I would think that the extra turns to exit the side or out the back would not make that much difference, but from what I am hearing, they do.

I had made a custom cat back 3" exhaust for my Cobalt turbo 2.0 that had a straight pipe with a Blox shorty 12"...it was also catless and the net exhaust effect was very low and powerful thumping...

My Mazdaspeed 3 has a full 3" system with a catless 3" downpipe and it is very deep with a nice metallic tone. No ricer or pops and crackles.

Mazdaspeed 3 sounds very different then the eco ranger, due to the unequal length header.

I went with the MBRP Duals.

Very mellow, barely audible at cruising speed, quite deep.

I have the single black tip MBRP, cannot complain especially for the price.
Not super loud but better than stock.

My tbird has 3” mandrel from the turbo all the way to a chambered flowmaster super 40, no cat, and sounds nothing like a 2.3L. Given the Lima is different than the Cleveland. Research through flow masters website, FX is not a mellow deep note it is a loud performance note. They have many muffler styles for different sounds.

Both direct injected and turbocharged. Tonally a little different, but still very similar with similar issues getting a nice sound.

I like the sound of the chambered mufflers. That's why I went with one on my ranger. Also have a set of flow 40's on my jeep. They just sound better in my opinion than the "turbo" style or glasspacks.

I'd kill to have my Ranger sound like my focus did. It's ironic that my focus, being smaller and wimpier than the ranger had such a mean exhaust note..

Reminds me of the Thermal R&D kit I had on my Focus ST. That thing sounded mean on a cold start (catless downpipe helped). When the wife lets me, i plan to get the thermal r&d kit for the ranger
