Been waiting for my truck back after warrantied transmission replacement.
Just got a call asking if I had a tune, I had set it back to the stock tune 3 weeks before taking it in, so I of course said no.
I did tell them I changed some lighting things with Forscan. But she said it's not even recognizing the VIN.
Any tips or info to help? Super confused and i NEED my truck back tonight or early tomorrow

This is one of those times where honesty would be more helpful as all they need to do is look at ignition counter and catch you in a lie.
I see 2 options the dealer reflashes the PCM or you use your tuner to reload the tune and then return to stock as something did not write correctly.
This would be a lot easier than trying to reflash the PCM this is assuming it will even load the tune
My hunch is it’s not fully reverted back to stock and this is the reason they cannot read it, to make it easier on the tech - come clean or it’s just going to delay the ability for them to figure it out.
Sorry but just being honest when asked a direct question would have been better.

I agree - the fact that you're obfuscating the fact you have indeed used a tuner on this truck is creating an information black hole for the techs that are troubleshooting this for you. It may be a little white lie on your end of things to ensure you get your warranty work done, but on their end they may start taking more drastic measures than they need to in order to fix the problem because they're taking your word, and you're not being truthful.

Honesty is the best policy.

Ah I had posted before taking it in and folks made it sound like I should not let them find out I had a tune. They asked for my second key and said that should fix it, but I'll talk to them in the morning and let them know I did have a tune and can bring that over to them

I believe people suggested returning it to stock, which it sounds like that didn’t quite happen. Hope they get it sorted out without any hassles.

This is the fun part about a tune. That said I am curious what time you had(you may have mentioned it before, but I don't remember). I ask because I have messed with Livernoise and a few others that did not mess with the VIN at all.

Had a similar situation when the dealer replaced my battery and bms. They had issues with programming the new bms and asked if I had made any forescan updates. Came clean, dropped off the second key, they completed the programming and I still had most of my forescan changes. They didn't even charge me for the extra time the tech took because of the changes.
Best to be honest since they are trying to fix it for you.

Most techs tune their cars too. They are literally car people. They know all the short falls of these vehicles. The transmission tech I dealt with said his f150 was tuned as well. Had me return it to stock that night. He didn’t say anything either, understood I did it because the transmission shifted like crap from day one.
