Dealer diagnostic fee while under warranty? (Sync issues)

Upgraded Sync this afternoon. I was on version 3.3.19052, which looks like it may have been the original version on the truck from 2019....so hopefully this latest version will be more stable.

Hopefully any future extended warranty issues will be less intermittent

I had the issue of intermittent unresponsive touch screen or total black screen. Pulled into local dealer when the screen was totally black and showed the tech the screen. Communication module would not respond, replaced the communication module and then confirmed infotainment module was bad. Replaced and good to go.

I am someone who has frequent issues with the sync system becoming unresponsive or going completely black or frozen on start up screen. I am low key scared to update because I have seen some horror stories of updates going bad on these forums.

My solution has not been mentioned here, so I’ll share. If you hold down the seek fwd button and the power button for several seconds it will perform a restart of the sync system and everything should start working. This solution can be done while driving, unlike shutting the truck down, and locking/unlocking the doors.
