There is a panel on the top of the dash that goes right up to the windshield, and runs lengthwise across the dash.....on my Ranger, this piece rattles when in certain RPM bands. If you just touch it, it will stop. I would like to remove it and put some felt or something on the underside to keep this from happening.....its very annoying! Has anyone removed this? Does it just pry up? I really don't wanna break that piece......any help would be appreciated......

Hi Patrick,

I recall it just pops up but use the right trim tool....not a screwdriver....

Other threads cover it in detail, and I think the felt idea is what the dealers use for a fix..

best,
Phil

Also when you use trim tools around the factory non leather dash pieces. Its usually a good idea to use some painters tape where you will be prying against. The dash pieces scuff easily, even with a plastic pry tool. The tape will give you a buffer against scuffing the dash.

Mine does this at certain RPMs as well and it drives me nuts.

It just started doing it this winter.

Yes, it is the piece closer to the windshield.......only does it in the winter when the dash is cold......I assume the summer heat makes the dash more pliable and doesn't rattle
