i would guess it will not have the standard ford slush box transmission in it lol.

I read up on I'm guessing a previous Dakar Ford Ranger some time ago when I was researching my purchase... there is NOTHING stock except maybe the grille about that truck. If remember correctly it was purpose built to maintain something like 80mph on rough terrain for however long it is they drive per day. The science they put into that is impressive... but our production line trucks probably wouldn't last 50 miles under the same stress without issues.

I read the article and since it will be using a 3.5l ecoboost, it is obvious is will be nothing like the 5G Ranger underneath.... It is a purpose built vehicle - kind of like NASCAR now - they attempt to make them LOOK like production vehicles, but they have nothing in common with a production vehicle any longer.

Regardless, it will be interesting to see how the Ford team does.
