Haha perfect! Just put this in today and used the smallest thing like you said. No more CEL!:clap:
I used the middle size restrictor for the last year and it's been good. One way to make sure the restrictor works is drive it at high speed like the highway for some time getting the temps up. If it doesn't cause a CEL your gold.

Oh sorry, I'm running an MBRP exhaust muffler back with the dual exit. Still have the stock flex pipe and midpipe so I used the 2.5 adapter from the downpipe to the flex pipe.
Superdannyboy (or anybody with this part):

oh wow that is amazing and would go great with my Borla S Type!

It seems to me that it’s allowing your blow off valve to kick in more often; a good sign. I think the BOV can essentially be a barometer of efficiency for all incoming air components; CAI, intercooler/charge pipes, and turbo which certainly corresponds to airflow!

Have you noticed that your new downpipe happens to trigger the BOV venting with more ease and often? I

I figure that just means it’s a great addition to the vehicle. If the BOV needs to vent, it’s telling me that it is allowing the turbo to spool up and create boost earlier, and more of it in all situations.

What are your thoughts on the below
  • how was the SOTP feeling? Notice power increase?
  • any MPG’s help
  • Do you notice the BOV is more active audibly? It just seems like it’s allowing the turbo to be more efficient. Just trying to see if it’s my imagination.
I mean geez, solely based on looks, I would practically purchase that part! Looks much easier to work with in the engine compartment with such a awesome and compact size compared to that monster of a stock unit!

I’m just thinking that with the supporting parts, it could be a mean combination. Specifically the below:
  • Cat Back (already have Borla system)
  • High flow CAI (done… Matsumoto)
  • BOV vent to atmosphere (done)
  • Upgraded intercooler & charge pipes
Combined with the downpipe, I think that pretty much would be an optimal set up for air delivery and minimal back pressure for exhaust, which is kind of a perpetual cycle of increasing airflow, as it will spin that turbo to its capability.

In that case, a tune would be in order for optimization!

That should maximize power and efficiency, I mean after all, engines are sort of air pumps when it boils down to it… Just a little combustion in the middle :)

But I would imagine the BOV ends up being activated to vent the available compressed air that isn’t needed. My BOV barometer theory. I’d rather have excess boost than lack of!

In that case, a tune would be in order for optimization!

Anyways, I love it all and sorry for the long post. I’ve already spoken with the company and now I’m going to absolutely have to purchase. I just had a few extra steps to get it here!
  • UPS mailbox in Reno Nevada
  • makes it easy with family cabin in Truckee Tahoe, basically 40 minutes away or less
  • Register my car to the Tahoe address… Then no Smog ever needed; just a small abatement fee every two years. Although I still don’t have to Smog ? since it’s newer but I’ve already done the swap every two year with my off-road H pipe back in the day… It gets very old!
thanks in advance and anyone else with experience, feel free to answer any of these questions if you have advice!

Going to buy your downpipe soon. Does it still come with the 'dont tell anyone' item in the box so I don't throw CEL?
Is that the accidentally included elbow?Obviously happened to fall in the box while it was getting packed :)

Moves the O2 sensor out of the way and avoids the CEL

Yep, it’s all in the same. The defouler is a spacer for the sensor, basically pushes it back a bit so the sensor doesn’t pick up as much of that high airflow, so doesn’t throw the flags.
I'm due for an inspection and it's time to take the defouler out of the glove box and onto the downpipe. Did you guys use the restrictor with the smallest hole or the biggest hole? Also did anyone add the defouler with the downpipe installed already? Hopefully I can fit a wrench in there with the downpipe installed.

Thanks.
yeah, most of the time I just see basically what is an elbow piece, and from what I hear, it works no problem. I would just do it… Definitely with inspections are Smog ? or whatever you have. Just be glad you’re not in California!

And I’m sorry to say that there are multiple states that have or are planning on adopting CARB rules. Incredible… Not in a good way

And I apologize on behalf of the normal people of Cali, specifically northern California you’ll find our relatable and down to earth people! In fact I’d love to cut Southern California off because they take our water and we have pretty much all the natural resources and sanity.

Right below Sacramento… I’m thinking the Benicia Bridge, basically where the bay flows inland and I believe all the way to Stockton for anyone who knows the area. That could be the border IMO!

Seriously, we subsidize so much for these larger cities, filled with ridiculous policies, lots of free stuff, and all of the extra risk, such as auto insurance where they have all the car accidents and our premiums go up, subsidizing the fact that they should be paying quite a bit more.

I’ll stop here… But we get Tahoe as well lol

I've been reading a thread on the epa, and what I'm reading is Trump is doing away with carb altogether. 50 state emissions only.

That would be a freaking miracle and take away a force of a program that requires companies to pay for a CARB – EO number and it’s just a money grab in that particular instance!

I mean I get not wanting off-road H pipes, with zero catalytic converters… But what the hell is wrong with the high flow cat?!

listening to the 5.0 coyote Mustang, Jesus that thing must be flowing like crazy and I just don’t see how our trucks are problematic at all.

But I think it’s usually nonsensical so if I’m looking for logic, it’s a futile cause!
