Today, I feel safer in my new (to me) '21 Ford Ranger. I have installed a console vault. And I am here to say the hardest part was kneeling in the passenger seat to get it installed. The package came with everything needed. I went with the upgraded Elite 4-digit Lock. Arrived in 5 calendar days (I am tired of ordering from Amazon). It took longer to read the directions than the installation. I needed a 7/16 and 1/2 socket for the bolts.

You put the bottom piece in first and it tells you which direction by the large FRONT tag. You drop the lid in and pull up until it wedges into the top. Let the wings to the bottom piece and slide onto bolts. Install nuts and tighten. Install self taping screws to secure in place and tighten. The lid is spring loaded so it "will" pop and stay open. I did not have a nifty neato combo setting tool (paper clip) on me so that will get done later.

And just in case traffic becomes too much and someone thinks I actually care about them; I installed a secondary safety feature as well.

Stay safe my friends.

I have the three code one. Great for simple locks but please remember as a responsible gun owner. The sides are only plastic.

Is that big enough to hold a full frame semi auto like a 1911 or bereta 92?

Full size Glock fits but again the sides are plastic.

I initially ordered the keyed one, but that key was massive so I bought the new 4 digit combo lock and swapped it out, much happier with that. I can leave my gun in there with spare magazines as well as some cash JIC.

"Hay Gronk, look what the owner of this Ranger did...put this silly safe door in the console....must have something inside" !!!
"No problem Flub...let me get you the hammer and chisel.....should only take you a few seconds, and we'll be outta here."

I figure a thief that sees that safe top will think, “there must be a gun in there” and proceed to destroy your console to get at it.
Maybe so, it might turn out just like that. But then again, I don't go around advertising outside of this forum that I have it in there.

There is also the probability the clothes in my dryer will come out folded like I prefer; so I got that going for me as well

You guys leave your center console lid up? Otherwise how else is anyone going to see that you have the safe installed in there?

Once they break in, what's the first place they check ??? The Console !!!
If your not worried about someone breaking in, than why the safe ???

Most break-ins are a crime of convenience. Unlocked vehicles or because something is visible from the outside. You two were insinuating that the thiefs would be more likely to break into the truck because of the safe.

I guess it depends where you live, but in the Atlanta metro area breaking into cars is organized crime. Just google “Atlanta car break ins” and see what pops up. Entire neighborhoods are hit at one time. Attached is one example and this happens routinely.

All I’m saying is that IF your vehicle is broken into, the safe ensures that your console will be torn apart, as opposed to just letting the thief get what’s in there and leave. He’s going to get your gun either way.
