Hi all,

I have a new-to-me 2019 Raptor and wanted a couple of Swing Cases for the back. I looked around the places selling them and saw them listed them as "Fits Ford Ranger 2012-2016 (T6) 2016-2019 (T7) and 2019+ (T8) Double and Super Cab pickups". Example

They're not cheap in the UK ~$550/pair and there isn't a lot of stock, so I thought my luck had come in when I snagged a pair (separately, from different sellers) on eBay.

Now they're here, I've come to install them and they seem to have brackets that are completely different to what I need. They were both listed as being for Rangers, and they're both the same. They don't have the over the top loop type end to fit the horizontal tie-down like the one installed in the Stage 3 Motorsports video on Youtube. They have a shorter bracket that has vertically arranged holes. And the plate that should fit by the tailgate into the 3 holes already there isn't nearly deep enough and has 4 offset holes which would require drilling right by the corner of the bed.

I've definitely got the wrong brackets, but it's strange that I've ended up with two wrong ones, both the same. So I'm assuming these aren't common across all Rangers from 2012 and later?

Is there a source for replacement brackets? I can't return my cases, and I really don't want to have to try and sell them on and get new ones. And if I could find new ones, would they fit? I thought about fabricating the forward part that connects hinge-plate to the front tie-down, but now I see the hinge-plate doesn't fit either, I'd have to make the entire thing from scratch. I've tried to find Undercover, but the site seems dead.

Chances are the set you got were not for your application as the Ranger in the US is different compared to the rest of the world. What I suspect happened is you got one for tge US model.

I knew that there were engine differences (and everything that comes along with that), but I didn't know there were differences as far as the bed goes.

I've been pouring through images, and my bed looks to be the same as all the ones shared on these boards, and the brackets I need are the ones that these cases seem to come with in the US. Like this:

The ones I have seem to have the same bracket on the case itself, but the truck-side parts look like this:

When I look at places in the UK selling the cases, that's the style they seem to be selling. What's weird is that there is one place that shows them installed on a Raptor and the bed is the same as the red one above, and they seem to have drilled into the bed and left the standard holes unused. Although I don't think it's possible to properly mount the front end of the bracket to the tie-down with the vertical slot-type bracket.

I don't mind making a plate for the bedside, but I think I may struggle to get a homemade hinge working as well as I'd like.

Do you have the holes in the bed that are used to install the bed extender?(shown below).

Based on the bottom picture you sent it looks like that bracket secures into those vs the tie down point.

Yeah, I have those those, and they are what the US cases use to mount the case. The cases I can see in the UK don't use those holes and have brackets that rely on screwing into the side of the bed in front of those factory holes, as in the picture of the grey Raptor.

It's not just that I don't want to put unnecessary holes in my new truck, it's also that if I'm going to put tools and gear in the cases, I'd rather the cases bolted into factory -nstalled threaded inserts, rather than just self-tapper'd into sheet metal.

Looks like I'm going to have to fabricate my own mounting hardware completely from scratch.

Maybe I missed something but have you reached out to the company? Maybe you can buy brackets from them that will work with your bed.

I did manage to get in touch with Undercover. They can supply the brackets (SC206D/P are the ones I needed - the ones I had were SC204D/P) at around $73 per side. Problem is I couldn't get them in the UK. I'd have had to order them in the US, have them shipped via a forwarding service, then get stung for import tax and duties etc.

It cost me a Saturday but in the end, I got a piece of £20 3mm steel plate and replicated the correct brackets with an angle grinder, some filing, and careful hammering. Transferred the latch mechanisms over from my incorrect brackets and I now have perfectly working Swing Cases :)

In fact, I'm thinking of making an alternative set of the hinge-piece brackets that are made as single piece that runs down the bed sides and along the bed floor, connecting - like a big U shape. It would not only carry the Swing Cases, but in the flat part on the bed floor, I'd cut in the holes required to fit Milwaukee PackOut kit. I'd really like a no-drill solution for fixing a crate or case to the floor right by the bed to throw odds and ends in like you would a regular car trunk, but be able to easily remove it when I need the bed for truck duties.

I like the way you're thinking!
