For whatever it's worth, they just added ESS to the Jeep Wrangler for 2018 as well. My ESS system died after 6 months of use. They put a new Intelligent Battery Sensor on it (this is usually a sensor on the negative post of the main battery). Next they replaced the aux. battery (vehicles with...
Looks like the DIESEL engines are the ones getting 25 MPGs.
The gas engines are doing around 20, give or take a couple depending on owner. That's perfectly in line with other vehicles in the Ranger's class with V6s.
Will be interesting to see what kind of real world MPGs people are getting...
I'm a GM hater, but the LS engines are superior for a swap project because they are cam-in-block, pushrod, port injection and therefore they're simple, rugged, easy to swap, easy to work on, and cheap to add power adders to.
I really wish Ford had offered more than one engine option, but that's...
I think the latest MotorTrend comparison that came out this week sums it up nicely. The Tacoma looks the best in the segment, but overall it's the worst truck in the segment. The ride is awful, the brakes are awful, the engine is awful, the transmission is awful, and the interior space is even...
Yes, Tacoma leases were $289/month...but I decided to go with the Jeep instead.
I don't know about Colorado because after being stranded by GM trucks 3 times in 3 years, I'll never touch another one.
The news coming out this week is that this Ranger (which is actually an older truck) is only going to be on sale for another 24 to 36 months. The all-new Ranger will share it's platform with the all-new Bronco in 2021.
SO... taking that into consideration I would personally try to get the...
$400+ on a lease is insane. That means they are giving you a terrible residual value OR they are hiding a ton of money in the deal and screwing you over.
If FCA can lease Wranglers and Ram 1500s for $279/month and still make good profit then there's no excuse for Ford or GM to be getting...
I have not driven one, so I cannot comment on ride quality. But I find their gripes about it being an old truck to be valid, and their comments on the interior looking horrible also valid. There's nothing truck-like about that interior at all. So, I assume that if they're willing to be...
The all new Wrangler has a ZF sourced 8-speed auto and several guys on that forum have had trans. leaks and issues already.
Is the 10R80 that Ford uses actually a ZF design, or is it something Ford/GM designed and built in-house?
That sucks and I hope they take care of you. Coolant will...
Wife and I have had literally dozens of vehicles over the last 15-20 years. In my experience, Ford F-150 is one of the least expensive vehicles to insure.
I've also noted:
-Foreign brands like Toyota and Nissan are a lot more expensive. Domestic brands are less expensive.
-Insurance...
If Ford advertises a 7,500 lb. tow rating on this truck and doesn't even give a pigtail to wire a brake controller into, that's mind boggling. Especially in the year 2019.
I'm following this thread.
I think there are actually fasteners to remove to access the drain bolt too aren't there? And then having to reach around the tire.. ugh.. Reminds me of my wife's 2011 Nissan Maxima. It could be so much easier.
Of course, a lot of guys won't care because they'll have their oil changes done...
Having no access panels to remove to get to the oil pan drain bolt, needing no jack to do the job, and having a top-load oil filter that can be swapped out in 30 seconds has really spoiled me. I don't understand why Ford hasn't copied the ease of maintenance that other brands have. I want to...
You have to remove plastic trim rivets. How many times will you be able to do that before you have to replace them? Then there's a panel flapping in the way. And that's after cranking the wheel one direction to make space.
No, that doesn't sound awful, but it is a pain in the ass and it's...
Neat-O.
Since the Ranger has 3.73 gears, taller tires, different transmission, and a different cam/tuning profile to detune it for truck use, I'd say that the same testing on a Ranger would yield vastly different results than what we see above. But, it's still cool nonetheless.
Hopefully...
You beat me to it. A lot of guys don't realize that NEW trucks sold today are being tested and labeled per this new specification. It took a while to get all the automakers to agree to use it, but it seems almost all of them are on board now.
