Combo Jump Starter/Inflator

Or any recommendations as to a good one ?

I know that you're looking for an "all in one unit", but I'd consider looking for 2 separate units.

I couldn't find a high quality "all in one' unit. Hope your search goes better than mine.

Anyway, I ended up carrying both separate. I also suspect the two take less space then the all in one package. But I also suspect the two are more expensive.

I shop for longevity. Only want to purchase once, and I want them to work when I need them.

Just helped out a truck in the shopping center whose battery had died. Pulled out my Audew battery Jump starter and fired the truck right up. It has not been touched in 18 months and was still at 100% charge. After starting the truck it was still at 98%.

I have one from Harbor Freight it works fine.

I have never had luck with them. I actually just carry jumpers and keep a charger at home with jump capabilities. But this was 10 years ago. Batteries have come a long way.

I agree with you. I've always found the all in one units seem to never do any of their functions well. Also if one of the functions quits you need to buy another whole unit. Always been a buy the best single purpose unit and only buy it once, hopefully.

For air, I carry a Viair 88p under the backseat and, for battery, I carry a Noco GB40 either under the drivers seat or in the glove box. Those all in one units are too big to carry in the cab. I’ve never had to use the Noco, but the reviews give me confidence it will work in a pinch. I have used the Viair and it works great. I also keep a Makita battery powered inflator in the garage just to top off my tires. I use the Makita ecosystem of cordless tools, but Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc., all have something similar.

Yep, I agree.

Here is the best compressor I could find. Viair 88P for what I do. Expensive but reliable for decades. I've got one in each auto as well the Audew Jump Starter. The jump starter is really compact, about 3/4 the size of a subway sandwich when in the case. The pump case is the size of a large lunch box weighing in at 5 lbs. But you are carrying a lot of stuff in that bag! 16' of hose! The pump itself is relatively small but powerful enough.

All this said, I can see the reasoning for wanting an all in one unit.

I used to have a Harbor Freight combo unit. For jump-starting it was good. For airing up tires, it was ok. Now I have my ARB Single compressor for air and a NOCO GB40 jump starter. Works well for me.

Let me kind of clarify...
Have a Viair 400 and Naco Jumper that I keep in the Ranger for the Ranger and travel trailer.
Was looking for an all in one to keep in wife's Subi for "very occasional use". Just looking at cheaper alternatives, but I guess getting a Viair 88 and another Naco Jumper wouldn't cost too much more...

I agree with others that the all in one units are best avoided. Very bulky, not great at either function and if part of it dies, you are stuck with the big unit for one function, think all-in-one printers. Do you need an emergency compressor or something to air up after off roading? For the latter, I have used one of these for years. If you need it for emergencies, the clip to the battery type are faster than the lighter plug style. Just make sure the wires and hoses are long enough to reach the furthest tire. Don't ask!

As for a jump start battery pack, I get something in the 2000A range. Amazon shows them rated up to 7.2L Gas, 5.5L Diesel. Not much more $$ than a smaller one. My wife's Mazda CX-5 was completely dead, no lights of any type. I had her get in and get ready to start it. The second I made the second connection, I said "start it". It fired up like it was a warm motor and a new battery.

I don't carry cables anymore after getting my Noco jump pack. I watched a YouTube video of a guy in serious cold weather who wanted to move several vehicles on his property that hadn't been started in a very long time. Getting paid nothing from Noco, he took his jump pack and started 7 or 8 (I forget exactly) cars, one of them took multiple cranks to fire up. He could have started more, but he ran out of cars.
With a jump pack, I am much more willing to help someone else, and you don't have to worry how the vehicle is parked.

Seems about right. A little over a year ago I had to jump start my dad's 71 GMC with a 402 Big Block. It did it twice and even he was impressed.

You guys jinxed me! I went to use my Sunjoe portable battery-powered compressor today to clean my furnace filters. This unit is not made any more and would not suit the OP's needs, but it is a handy little compressor.
Anyhoo, the damn thing would not shut off, it just kept hanging around 120psi and kept running. So I got some soapy water and went at it. I had to almost completely disassemble it to find out the pressure switch was leaking, not around the threads but around the electrical connections. New switch on the way.

I'll echo what other people are saying, the all in one units are generally low quality. I've had 4 or 5 of them over the years and consistently the battery dies before the compressor does, additional the compressors tend to be slow. I got a used viair 450 and a pair of old fashion jumper cables, the compressor I got is overkill. It's very fast and well built. Over they years I've had good luck with noco products but I would recommend watching project farm's video about jump packs.
