CarPlay Off-Road Maps with Gaia GPS

Just recently Gaia GPS released the ability to view and navigate off road maps with their app via CarPlay.

I was hesitant to buy the Garmin Overlander GPS because I knew CarPlay off road maps was in the works. Now I can view downloaded waypoints, trails, and routes directly on CarPlay with navigation. All off the grid with downloaded maps.

I think this is a huge advantage to everyone with off road trips in mind as I really hated using my phone to check on trail routes as it would usually go to sleep or I’d have to pinch and zoom to find my location again.

This is fantastic! I wonder if Android Auto is coming soon. It doesn't matter too much to me at this point with my RAM mount and tablet, but for shorter trips this would be fantastic.

I agree! I'm sure Android Auto will get this feature too once its fully implemented.

I was a beta tester for the app but its live now so just download the app Gaia GPS and it will have the CarPlay option.

I have the GIA for a year now...do I need to download a newer version? Thanks! This is what I've been waiting for...besides my future RTT

I'd check for an update then! It will be available as long as you have an iPhone newer than fifth generation.

Sweet! Thanks for posting this! I use Gaia for hiking, you can also use Caltopo and sync with Gaia to create trips/waypoints.

I believe so...I had a subscription but canceled it because I wasn't ready to get off road...
