@Andy I am probably going to look for a program/device that will do offroads at a later date. Since I use basecamp already it will be Garmin based. I was hoping there was something that could be done to the stock navi and not have to use a phone app. This is my first automobile with stock navi. My 2015 Goldwing uses Garmin with a flash drive. I am learning as I go. If the stock navi is total crap when I punch in a destination, then I will buy a Garmin.

I have learned that if you want to drive a specific route, when planning it in Basecamp, every turn must have a waypoint even though it may be obvious while looking at it on the map. When importing it, if you don't do specific waypoints, it may calculate a turn you didn't plan for and that turn may not be a very motorcycle friendly road.:surprised:

Agreed, thats why I prefer using tracks on my 276cx or little 60cx, but my bike is a little more off road than the big Wing:)

So far the stock nav seems ok, map detail not bad, all way better than my wifes nissan system. Still not as good as a OSM on a garmin for detail when zooming out.

Unfortunately I think if you want to do anything other than basic nav, or "take me there from here" with no preference of route other than avoidances, you may have to expand beyond the stock one.

That said, I haven't tried anything with it yet,so you never know, but Im not tossing any of my garmins or paper maps yet:)

Cheers, Todd

I plug my iPhone in and use Google Maps through AppleCarPlay when I want to take a road trip, but when I'm just tooling around town I use the stock nav system.
I do basically the same, except that I'm currently using Waze. One of the things I like about Waze (at least via iOS) is that you can enter planned trips through your iPhone, and then just select the trip as you get ready, and start. I find searching for and/or entering addresses is much easier on the app than it is through the Sync screen.
