While I know there's better aftermarket options out there (Line-X, etc...) I'll vouch for the factory spray-in bedliner. I've always used drop-ins in my trucks, so a spray-in was something new for me.

I've been demoing a 25 X 25 room in my house (new man cave....RRrrrrr RRRRrrrrr) which has had me making multiple dump runs full of 2x4's with nails in them, tons of drywall, and all sorts of hard-edged debris. I was really leery of the spray-in bedliner thinking it would rip, gouge or just plain out not protect the bed as well as a drop-in.

Well, it has performed admirably. I expected marks and overall nastiness afterward, but just spraying it out with a hose, it looks good as new.

Just if you were having any reservations when buying your Ranger with a factory spray-in bedliner, it should cover most of what an average homeowner would use a midsize truck for.

...and if you aren't comfortable still, I'm sure Line-X and others would be more than enough for most everyone.

Thanks for this. I ordered the spray-in as part of the Black Appearance Package, but I did have some concerns about the quality of the liner.

The factory has a huge advantage over the LIneX. Ford uses a patented product and process that the aftermarket cant do. The advantage is it does not chalk/dull out over time and stain.

Linex has an offering like that and (unlike ford) has a real warranty. I went with the factory liner for simplicity, but I don't think there's any question that linex is a better product. I definitely would have gone that way if I expected to abuse the bed more, but the factory liner is "good enough".

We sell a ton of the LineX, the product is good, and they are thicker. But, the way the way Linex adds the non fade is basically paint over the bedliner material, where as Ford, they use a three part process. The bed is primed, not hit with a DA grinder, and a robotic sprayer used a two part product that has a chemical reaction, almost like epoxy.

My understanding is that if something does happen to the ford bedliner, there isn't actually a repair procedure. Do you have a different experience? (Whereas, regardless of how linex does their thing, if it fails they'll stand behind it at any vendor nationwide.)

That is a great question. I bet we have sold well over 2,000 Ford trucks with the factory liner(we own 5 Ford dealerships) I have never had to make a warranty repair, and they are covered for 3/36,000. I am going to try and get a answer for you.

I stand corrected, looks like you're good if it fails within 3 years. :)

Thanks @Fordguy , much appreciated! I've looked all over for this info.

By the way, if you are ever in the market to do something different with the website for your auto group, drop me a PM. We design, host, and manage websites for dealerships. We are different from the giants in that space in that we take a very personal, service-oriented approach. We would love the opportunity to earn your business.
