I got this tracker from a friend of someone who works for someone on the Defense Appropriations Committee. It's something the NSA developed to immediately know who was where and when and it has real-time satellite info and....<click...account eliminated>

I tried onx, and gaia and something similar and did not love either one. some of the gps makers are selling off road units with trail stuff but they want a kidney for them. When I venture out I take my old school but up to date satelite garmin gps, google maps, waze and google earth. Do they do everything i need, no. do they drop connection, you bet they do lol. but i try to plan out a trip in advance and mark way points and look at the stuff on google earth well ahead of rolling out. that way even if all the connections go i still have a fair idea where i am based on the research and way marks. my cell loses signal off and on almost every trip but I keep a 10- 12 meter am fm radio in the truck and extra food fuel water etc. so no worries. but knowing any surprise hairy spots would be nice before being to far along to re think it. got a nice collection of pin stripe on the ranger from that recently. every inch forward had that scraping sound going down the truck. i cringed for about an hour after. ?

I use OnX Offroad and Gaia GPS, as well as my Garmin, InReach Explorer+. Between the three, I have offline maps, tracks, routes and satellite text, emergency SoS, if needed. We are often a long way from civilization and being in our 60's, need to always be prepared (yes, I was a Boy Scout once upon a time). Never stop exploring and live your life like today is your last day on earth, because one day it will be!

Retired, work is a four letter word.
So this is not onX Off Road, it is Hunting specific. I use onX off road a lot and it is good, allows off line saved map use, you can save as many map sections as you like, which is good as I am out of cell service a lot also. I have no need for this as I stopped hunting after my second tour in Nam.

I tried OnX on a free trial. It has nothing our State's app doesn't have for free. I've consider Giaa or whatever, but here in CO, CoTrex works great, and it's free.

I purchased an Onx subscription a year ago and I have not been impressed.

There are very little trails actually marked in the app. Android Auto is very poor as well.

Onx does a ton of influencer marketing, which is why they are so popular.

Alltrails is actually better IMO than Onx, even though it is more of a hiking app.
