Got to agree with them.

Without the infrastructure to support them they'll never go anywhere.

Look at the largest scale "self driving" eco systems in the world. Automated People Movers. I was a Mechanic on the DIA APM. Those systems are quite complex and everything is controlled by one machine with multiple failsafes in place. There's no way that system would operate properly with every train having a "mind of it's own."

Without infrastructure that employs central control and safety oversight, and with a mixed environment it's a cluster fuck waiting to happen.

Everything on a given road would need to be this way. Tesla's dream just ain't gonna happen. Some sort of Hybrid system for hands free is a good compromise. But Full self driving I would never get in one even if you paid me. I need to be in control.

I don't care about self driving cars. I just want the flying cars I've been promised for years. Bladerunner took place in 2019 and Soylent Green was 2020. we are closer to Idiocracy being true than anything about flying cars or replicants or food made from people

I think we are missing a leap in tech that no one is seeing now for that to be possible. Maybe my kids will see it. Maybe my kids will trust tech enough to allow it.

I am just hoping my next new car still has a stick as an option.. but that seems more remote as time goes on. I wanna control all the things.
