Yeah, the owners manual calls for specific driving and it doesn't call for some archaic oil change procedure. There's also nothing about using caution when starting so the crank handle doesn't break your arm, or any number of other things that used to be important but are no longer relevant. The idea that there's stuff that will fly around in the engine, but won't get caught in the filter, but will just fall out when you change the oil is kinda looney.
It's fine for those that want to do it but they should stop preaching. Not a single major auto manufactuer recommends (or suggests) a shorter interval for the first oil change.

Don’t look at this as preaching. We are just taking extra precautions and expressing different opinions. I don’t care what you do and I’m not telling you that you should.

Last year I bought a new motorcycle, at 500 miles I changed the oil and added a magnetic drain plug. I’ve done 3 oil changes since and the plug had more metal soot on it than the rear drive. If that plug wasn’t in place that gunk would stay in the crankcase.

I big deal to some? maybe not, but I like knowing or thinking that I’m keeping my engines clean and making a difference in longevity.

Last new bike I bought required a oil change and valve check at 600 miles, Ranger not so much, but hey, to each their own. YMMV

Hi Mike, You must have seen me on there lol, I do it everyday!
I decided to pull out of the draft several months ago to maintain my sanity. Currently, if you see a teal blue Rogue hanging out in the right lane there is a good chance its me. After the 31st (just heard from dealer) if you see a magnetic supercab it *is* me. I'll keep an eye out for you.
