Blank door key

I need a blank key just to unlock doors, just in case I lock my key fob and cell phone in the truck. can someone pont me to a link on Amazon or Fleabay that will work with my 2021 XLT Tremor? I see there's magnetic key holder big enough to store our key fobs, I just didn't want to do that.

The blank key just has to be a Ford compatible key. It just has to be cut. You might have to shorten the plastic part a bit to fit the magnetic holder. I have done this just because one day I know I am going to forget the FOB inside the truck. For this same reason, I always have two keys with me when I travel! My other vehicles all have/had the Intelligent Access setup. I miss that.

My buddy had one of these too. It worked great until he got rear ended and couldn’t open it after lol

I can think of many negatives, including the one you mentioned, but no real positives. The weather to be a huge bummer. And you are advertising that something of value is attached to your rear bumper! Plus spending that much cash for a FOB, plus programming just to hope it doesn't get stolen or weather damaged doesn't seem like an intelligent decision.
Of course it is a trailer hitch so what could go wrong? Safe removed and mislaid?

I keep just the blade portion in my wallet(part# 164-R7978), but you'd need plier or Leatherman to turn it. Also, you probably need to find a dealer that actually stock it, because they are normally sold only in a pack of five I believe.

Edit: I want to say these are also compatible, but I'm not able to double check that right now. Part number is 164-R7982.

Edit2: I looked for 2017 F-150, which has the same flip keys gen 5 Ranger uses & 164-R7982 pictured works for the doors on that, so I'd way this is probably the key you want. @DLinc184

The safe is hidden by a strong cover that mounts over it. There is no indication that it is installed. I've had mine installed for over 4 years with no problems. The only way to open it is with the lever. If someone tried to force the lever it would most likely break off. Then the only way to remove it would be to cut it off. I do periodcally buy a replacement cover because over a year of two if exposed to the sun it will detiorate over time. I always keep a spare. Another thing I do is to remove the battery in the key fob. That way it will not function correctly. I keep the battery in my wallet.

Check with a local Locksmith. When I worked for one we would cut a test key on a "dumb" blank to make sure that the machine had read the key right. Most times we would give them to the customer to use for exactly what you want.

I’ve always used the magnetic hide-a-key boxes on my work truck and a couple zip ties for added insurance. With the ranger, I don’t though. If I ever do lock the key in the truck, I have the Ford app. If that fails, the wife can bring my spare. If she’s out of town, looks like I’m replacing a window!

I’ve only ever locked myself out of my truck twice in my life though. Once wasn’t my fault, the lock failed and self detonated when I stuck the key in it. My old truck didn’t have a key fob and only the driver door had a key hole.

The other time was totally my fault. Set my keys down on the seat while filling out my time card. I realized what an idiot I was when I got to my front door and couldn’t open it. Not only did I lock myself out of my truck, I locked myself out of my house too… Double whammy!

I agree! I have been very disappointed for over 5 Years that my hitch safe has worked as expected for holding my spare keys and others items...

I am bummed it it well made and can't get damaged easily...

Edit: truly disappointed the price has gone up since I purchased it!
