I like nerding out on these reports as well. I have been doing them with my old VWs for a while and now did a few during the first 30k of my Bronco to get a baseline. I’m running Motul there and plan to switch to that or Amsoil for the Ranger.

You can always upgrade to the Motorcraft FL-400S filter. It’s a bit taller.

I’m interested in 7500 intervals as long as the reports show positive results.
I’m using Amsoil Signature Series in my 19’ Ranger. First one I did was at just over 11,000km (6900 miles) . Analysis came back great. No fuel in the oil etc. My next one I am doing at 15,000km

I’m doing another one at 9300 miles or 15,000km. First one was done a about 6800 miles or 11,000km. The report came back great. No fuel in the oil etc.

The no fuel in oil is huge. I have a feeling I won’t get rid of it completely because my commute is so short. But, here is my latest Bronco (2.3L, Manual Transmission) that I’ve been running Motul since 10k miles.

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
Castrol Edge 5w30, FL-910S; it clearly does better than Motorcraf
Shocker.

With Castrol (and others) you know what you are getting. With Motorcraft I guess you could say that you know what you are getting... as long as you realize you are getting the product from the lowest bidder on the last engine oil RFQ. And the decision was made by some 26 year old zero mechanical comprehension purchasing agent who evaluated every bidders number in row 32, columns M - X on his spreadsheet.

BTW, before he/she made that winner award they contacted the lowest three bidders and tried to squeeze another 3/1000 of a cent per gallon out of them.:punch:

Nah, my job doesn't cause me to get irritated with corporate purchasers. Why do you ask?

First oil change since ownership (30k miles). Assuming they used Motorcraft 5w30 since it was dealer changed - but, who knows? Some weird high metal numbers. Assuming it’s due to additives.

I stuck with Motorcraft oil for this change because I have a few pre-paid changes rolling over from our 2016 Transit. I noticed on my receipt that they also put in BG MOA additive and 44k in the fuel tank…I didn’t ask for that. But, I guess we’ll see what it does on the next analysis.

I plan to switching to Motul after the pre-paid runs out.

Hmm, I doubt the numbers are being affected by the fuel additive. The potassium level increase is generally associated with coolant mixing in the oil. Appears you should be under powertrain warranty still, so that is good.

Yeah, I bought an extended warranty up to 100k as well. They mentioned sodium would be high too if it was coolant?

I’m going to reassess after the next oil change + analysis. This way I have a better understanding since now I know what actually went into the motor.

It is odd that just the potassium level was elevated. I think your approach is solid though.

Would be interesting to get prior service history on it to know if any work had been done in conjunction with the prior oil change. It could be as simple as the tech used the same funnel they used for windshield washer fluid for the oil and that potassium number simply represents cross contamination? Deicers typically contain potassium.

Got my oil analysis back today.
This is on 15,280km or 9500miles. Everything is good except 6% fuel dilution which dropped the viscosity a little. Otherwise no abnormal wear and tare. This will be my intervals now.

I wasn't too impressed with my factory fill at 2,3xx miles. I am almost at my second oil change, which will be about the same miles, but will be switching to Motul 300v 5w40. I will send this upcoming oil change off for sampling as well. I do plan to run 5k miles on the 300v and do a sample and see how it does. I'd like to get between 6k-8k on OCI's. I don't drive the truck much as I've had it for 15 or 16 months and it's under 5k miles.

Looks great at 9.5k! That fuel dilution is 100% normal for a GTDI in the winter and as your OCI reports, it is not causing any extra wear.

It's hilarious how BITOG and other forums loose their minds over that. Just go for a multi-hour highway trip before winter drains and that number will go away, if you care. The catch can also helps. My catch can stayed dry all summer, then 1 month of winter stop/go, followed by a 2 hours trip, and I poured out ~4oz of clear amber that smells like gas :like:

Yeah, I think my next purchase will be a catch can. Most of the mileage is also City and idling in the stupid Vancouver traffic.
From others opinion it looks like Scamsoil is a big scam and doesn’t work. Lol.

I will try that for next year and go for a good couple hour run on the hwy and see what happens.??

Yep your wear metals are *slightly* better than mine, it could be Amsoil performing better than my Edge. How many miles did you have at that drain?

85,000 km on the motor, and the oil had 9500 miles on it or 15,000km when I changed it.

Perfect we are at the same mileage so it's a fair compare. My iron has dropped steadily each OCI since new from break-in.
