Black Tailpipe Tips

Has anyone found a good way to deal with the water coming from exhaust turning the tips black? As part of my chrome package, my tip is chrome. It's a pain to keep it clean and don't want to change it to black.

go to a good paint store or automotive paint place and get a spray can of 3m, ppg, or english or other quality brand that is high heat safe - color clear coat. get some polishing steel wool while at the paint place. plain steel wool, no soap or ripples etc. polishing fine fine steel wool. clean up the pipe real good with soap and water. let it dry really well no water drops or spots and then give it a polish with the steel wool. get a damp towel and wipe away all the steel wool dust / debris. make sure its good and dry and give the chrome a nice even thin coat of clear coat. let it dry good like 24 hours and give it another coat. maybe even wait another 24 hours and give it a third coat. after it dries out good and the clear hardens up it will help all the dirt and road grime come off easily with a good spray of water or wet soapy wash mitt.

Hard to paint Millennium Falcon's exhaust it was.....
Tried chrome, but not work it did....
