I don't get what the deal is. But I suppose it keeps it from coming off. If there was a proper zipper end it may come off.

Well. I'm not exactly sure either, but from my forum browsing the tailgate dampers are sort of a joke around here. I just got my truck and got a damper for it, and I like it so far. Seems it needs some tweaks so it doesn't pinch the support cable. I guess I'll figure out what the beef is eventually, but for now, we'll both stay in the dark.

None the less, don't take it personally.

The bigger joke here is that Bedrug can't help you with your problem.
Perhaps it's installer error (upside down, backwards, inside out)?
With the one picture and no context as mentioned above, there's not much to be said.
If you took offense, I apologize. I understand how frustrating things can get when you want an answer to something and nobody seems to have one.

I did not answer for two reasons. First I have no experience with bed rug...second, I had no idea at what I was looking. Need a few pictures and one from far back so we can tell a bit more.

Never having had a Bedrug, I wouldn't know if it's "impossible" to fit in any other way.
Like I said, the biggest joke here is that Bedrug themselves can't help you.

The second biggest joke would be that you can't find the grace to accept an apology when offered.
