Hi everyone I’m new here, love the forums so far, many thanks for all the advise I’ve seen so far! Love my first pickup!

I’ve been scouring the forums to find what everyone has done to seal up the gaps in the back of the bed by the cab in the corners. I’ve tried putting a picture up so people know what I mean.

Also, can anyone share pictures of where they’ve put the sealing tape around the tailgate! I can’t find anywhere good to put it so it actually seals.... it’s such a huge gap!

Sooo many thanks in advance!

My Truxedo Sentry cover came with a nice piece of thick foam to help seal that open area, but I added more foam to make sure that it won't leak from up in there.

I added some one-sided foam tape up front as well for extra sealing...guess my gap was a little smaller as I used a lot less (OEM folding cover).

I did my rear tailgate seal like in this picture...helps a lot.

I need to put something in mine as I'm getting dust in from the dusty gravel roads. What tape did you use on the tailgate? I've seen quite a few options but not sure which to buy.

Is that the FORD soft cover you have? I'm needing to do the same thing to reduce the gravel road dust in the back.

The Tailgate seal from Extang worked pretty well for me. https://extang.com/maxseal-tailgate-seal
I believe the kit comes with 10' of seal, but you'll only require ~9'.

Any hints or tips on how best to apply it? I'm assuming it fixed the intrusion of dust and water thru the tailgate gaps? I have dust all over my bedrug from gravel road driving.

I found the following thread to be quite helpful https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/anybody-tried-a-tailgate-seal.2166/

As others point out in that thread, you'll find best results by aligning the seal with edge of the bed near the taillights. As to the bottom of the bed, I placed the seal on the bottom lip of the bed, not the tailgate. The results seem positive so far, but we haven't had much rain since I installed.

Thanks - I'm more worried about the dust than a bit of water. I remember seeing that thread now. I will refresh my memory.

Thanks again for the link.

I doubt the tailgate seal is going to hurt your fight against dust intrusion. Good luck!

I used Maxseal like THWG suggested.

Extang Trifecta 2.0 did not require anything outside the box it came in. metal bar with foam for front gap. everything else is solid. no leaks.

I did not seal the tailgate. Havent noticed too much of anything getting in there
Wow ok thanks! Such a huge gap I just assumed you’d get some water on a downpour. Maybe it’s just my brain, I life in Florida, a 5 minute storm can give you a huge amount of water!
