Maybe? We did that with a pickaxe and pruner. I’m more of a natural person.?

A major event for us here in SE Alabama! Slowly accumulating.? So much fun running from window to window & between front porch & back porch. Rarely does it snow here. Usually I’m at work and miss it since usually it is melted by time I get off.
Retired now & am thorough enjoying this!❄❄❄?❤
I feel like I’m in a Hallmark movie.?
Tomorrow, snow angels!?

Don't hurt your back while shoveling!

And remember, you may be able to go fast in your pretty Ranger but you have to brake turn like everyone else!

I sure don't miss driving around the county on these cold windy nights!

We call that scuffing speed . I am an advanced EVO ( Emergency vehicle operation) instructor with over 25 years of teaching it. Trust me you can't scuffed speed unless the pavement is dry and you have good enough tires.

I don't trust Wikipedia because they can edit pages without evidence or proof on people. Places or things. I've seen interviews from people who cannot edit there "own" page that was made about them.

Well you can't beat the physics in any case. But practically in this move you are flicking the car sideways so the lateral friction stops the initial forward motion while you are accelerating towards the new direction. If that lateral friction is zero, you'll just go to the ditch sideways (been there, done that, wrecked the car at that time)

On gravel the the friction becomes quite alot greater as the wheels dig into the ground. In winters snow and ice you need studded tires or spike tires like below. Rubber friction only tires do not work as the tire is in motion and the friction is not really there.

Well it's a normal rally move anyway and the shortened wikipedia explanation looks to be valid (at least currently). Just google scandinavian flick and you'll find plenty of explanations and videos for it to confirm.

I agree on physics. My OP was aimed at the average driver with average equipment, most don't have the added luxury of advanced training and studded tires or chains. Lord knows there are times when I wish I had studded tires or chains but unlike your area we don't have bad road conditions long enough to need to buy them plus we have laws regulating when you can use them.

Race car drivers are experts in their field, most of the time they are all turning left unless it's a road course and they don't have to contend with cross traffic, stop lights or signs, yielding, pedestrians or animals constantly, loose debris like sand, salt, gravel and in our area spilled grain during certain times of the year. Drive defensively, leave yourself an out, look 12 seconds ahead relative to your speed, watch the edge of the road, keep your eyes moving and others will keep you safer.

Nice. Maybe @Arly will bring his equipment and dogs down and groom those trails for you.
In the thread "rangers in snow" I was posting in but got such rude, mean responses I felt it was best to disengage posting in the ranger forum altogether. Sure sorry about that.

I hate to hear that. Unfortunately it only takes a few "bad apples" to spoil things for the rest of us. For what it is worth, I for one always enjoyed your posts. Hope you can just ignore them, but I understand if you can't. Take care of those pups and try to stay warm.

Are there moderators here? I do that on several FB pages and we kick people off for posting something less than nice after their 2nd time.

I never saw anything rude or against the TOS but if there was send me a link to it.

Now I do know/see many posts go off topic but that's pretty par for the course on any forum and I'm guilty of doing it myself. But I certainly wouldn't ban someone for it and usually it runs it's course after a couple of post. Over moderating a forum is just as bad as no moderation IMHO. :)
