Motor Mount finally arrived. I'm scheduled for Tuesday to replace the mount.

I'd put polyurethane mounts if they were available but I haven't found any.

I just bought a new Kia Rio to drive to work and I went over one speed bump without slowing down and it was a loud bang lol. I slow down for everything in that car now. It was a big wake up to how much stress my motor mounts experience in the Ranger. All suspension rubber bushings have been replaced with delrin or polyurethane, except for the shackles, so the motor mounts are distributed more of that loa. I didn't slow down for anything in the road such as potholes, speed bumps, curbs, and now I see why it failed under the loads I gave it, which were outside of what they were designed to do.

I’ve looked into making my own motor mounts since there are no polyurethane replacements yet. Best option is to order a solid polyurethane cylinder of the right diameter, cut to the right height, drill the center for a really long high grade bolt and nut. Push threaded end of bolt from bottom up through frame, poly cylinder, and engine side bracket. Secure with nut. Still working out the specifics but that’s the idea for now…

I'll stick to rubber until I swap it.

Just throw a TGD on that side of the engine. Problem solved.

Drove the ranger around to see if the replaced motor mount fixed the swaying problem I felt and it still kinda sways side to side when letting off the gas, but I mean when I say letting off the gas I mean flooring it and after long pull and right after the transmission shifts gears and I let off, I feel a sway from left to right. Also feel the sway when accelerating and switching lanes. It never used to do this it used to be really planted. As soon as I turned on my street my dash lit up with the service stability or something then hill assist warning and I just parked it and came inside. Maybe another abs wire? I'll hook up the laptop this weekend.

The sway is most likely bushings. Gonna replace my upper control arm bushings. Was waiting for the motor mount replacement to check things one at a time.

So I found my rear axle was crooked and after investigation I found that my u bolts on the right side broke loose and caused my rear axle to shift backward so that was probably the sway I felt in conjunction with my bad motor mount. Man what a series of events. Good thing I'm a manufacturing engineer for Peterbilt or else I wouldn't have a clue or confidence of how to fix all of it.

So is this a sign to just stick with Peterbilt's and leave the Ranger be?! ??

I'm a senior manufacturing engineer for Peterbilt and I work part time for Raytheon Missiles and Defense programming machines. My ranger is my toy and I will continue modding it for fun.

But the Ranger isn't a Semi Truck and has nothing to do with Rocket Science LOL
