Im not really interested in making my ranger any louder but I was wondering if anyone has gone to a muffler shop and just had their exhaust dump after the axle? I just want to get rid of the side exit.

Shouldn't have any impact on sound, I might be concerned about those hot gasses not exhausting away from the spare tire though.

Shouldnt be an issue. One advantage to it is less chance of the tail pipe hitting the bed when OffRoad. One member on here had that issue with only a leveling kit installed. Cant remember who but it was about 2 years ago I believe.

I always like the side exit before the tire. I had an axle dump on a diesel for about a week, welded that pipe right back on.

I wonder if cutting about half a foot of the bitter end would get rid of the side exit look and still be enough to get the fumes away from the cab etc.

I'd be concerned with CO getting into the cab. Wouldn't be legal in my state anyway so check your state laws.

As opposed to the hot gasses exiting right next to the rear tire?

if one was eager enough a through body exit would likely look pretty darn sweet! (yes, this is no ranger in the picture lol). But who ever carves out a hole on the body and does the idea post lots of pictures for us.

Look at where the little resonator is located. You will notice that the exhaust exiting right after the resonator womt cause an issue with CO getting into the cab. No need to think about it too hard there

The factory side exhaust exits into the airstream and is taken away quickly . I had tried the downpipe method on my 1990 Ranger but changed it after a few weeks as the gases were getting pulled up between the cab /bed and making their way into the cab . It was terrible if you opened the rear sliding window . I ended up cutting holes in my rear ground effect panel and exiting that way . The airflow under the vehicle is doing some crazy stuff ,LOL .

The exit is still far behind the cab. The Exploder is a whole different chassis design that doesn't get say in this conversation

This is my thought as well. As previously stated im not looking to increase flow or anything, just want to modify the exit as I don't like it going out the side.
